Will we make a similar resolution to help these men after they get here ? Will there be a move to rid A. and M. of the “powder- head” element that has been creep ing in during the last couple of years ? * * * This week’s assignment includes a game with Matty Bell’s fast T. C. U. aggregation, probably the fastest qu.ntet in the state. The Aggies have a tough assignment but if they play as they did during the second half of the Texas game, a victory for the maroon and white can be safely predicted. * * * “Rip” Collins, one of, if not the greatest punter that has been pro duced in the Southwest, was present at the homecoming. “Rip” is at pres ent, a hold-out on the Detroit team of the American League as he has net signed a contract for the coming season. He was not content until he had put on a pair of football shoes and given the old pigskin a couple of boots between halves in the Cav alry-Artillery game. * * * Esquival has a bad habit of letting his tongue slip at most any time though simetimes the referee does n’t see. For instance, the time he substituted back for Stallter. ❖ * * The “T” men of former days were able to witness all forms of sports on Monday afternoon and evening. A baseball game, a football game, a basketball game, track and tennis were all being indulged in so that men who lettered in all branches were given a chance to judge their pres ent-day successors. DALLAS CLUB EATS Last Sunday afternoon in the mess hall annex the members of the Dallas Club enjoyed one of their renowned repasts of ice-cream-and-cake-and- candy-and-sandwiches furnished by .the beloved Dallas A. & M. Mothers’ Club in celebration of Saint Valen tine’s Day. Leading the onslaught was Capt. Shorty Flowers who neat ly and quickly dispatched nine serv ings of ice cream and three Angel food cakes, and who was sorely and painfully vexed by many devils of in digestion throughout the remainder of the day and the following night. Aggie forward who starred in games with Texas and S. M. U. ‘T” ASSOCIATION RESOLUTION Whereas, there appears to be a tendency among some high school star athletes to expect reward for their services at any institution that they may attend, and Whereas, there may be some in ducement from sources to prompt such expectations, and Whereas, there are rumors afloat that college athletics, especially the branch of football, is being commercialized, and Whereas, we believe all such tendencies are wrong and should be corrected and eliminated, Therefore, be it resolved that the “T” Association go on record as opposing the spirit of any athlete that he must be paid to attend any college or university and to vigor ously assail any agency that may attempt to commercialize athletics at the colleges and universities within our state. Signed— W. K. Hanson, Pres. Warren Collins, Vice-Pres. J. P. Garrity, Sec-Treas. LETTER MEN DENOUNCE PRACTICE OF HAZING Whereas, the president and fac- utly of the A. & M. College have taken vigorous means to suppress indiscriminate and brutal hazing at the College, and Whereas, there has been some question as to how the “T” men stand upon such matters, and Whereas, in soliciting worthy students, especially athletes, to attend the A. & M. College, we are continually confronted with this evil and as a result, great harm is being done the institution, and Whereas, as a matter ’of prin ciple, no man is called upon to submit to such unmeasured and harmful punishment, Therefore be it resolved, that the “T” Association endorses the stand of the officials of this college in vigorously suppressing hazing and further make it known that the Association itself opposes this evil and in no way approves or con dones the unwarranted administra tion of unlawful force by one man upon another. FARMERS STAGE BRIL LIANT OFFENSE WHICH DAZZLES TEXANS After being the holders of the small end of a 7 to 3 score at the end of the first half, the Aggies came back gloriously and defeated the Uni versity of Texas team 21 to 14 be fore a great crowd gathered to see the formal dedication of the Aggie Memorial Gymnasium last Monday night. With the din composed of both the Corps and the group of old letter men together with the fre quent blasts from the referee’s whistle urging them to fight harder, the team spurred themselves in the last half and with an apparent change in style of play “poured it on” the Texas aggregation in every sense of basketball. Nothing short of a victory would have appeased the Corps and former “T” men last night. A defeat in the new gym by a team from Austin would have been regretful indeed since the Memorial Stadium of which the visitors are so proud was formally inaugurated with a victory over the Aggies. But the Aggies won and i timely victory it was too. The Texas team lacked the punch and vim which made it famous last year and the year before. Foster, who last year guarded the well-known and remembered Darby so closely, failed to prove himself as good a player as formerly. Nation, a cen ter of last year’s team, who is now playing forward didn’t seem to have improved much either. Wilcox continued the stride he set in the S. M. U. game and was Aggie high point man for the night, count ing up four goals for his night’s work. Sandy Esquival, of the visi tors, made eight points for his team also. Ducket made the three points for the Aggies during the first half and three more during the second half when he substituted for Tucker. Esquival made four points during the first half and Settegast, captain of the Texas team, made three which v/as his total for the entire game. Texa: Aggies Wilcox . . LINE-UP Tucker .. R. F.
