WALDROP & CO THE STORE FOR YOUNG MEN ❖ * * HERE RUMMITT * ❖ * Aggieland, Dec. 16, 1924. Dere Rummit: I don’t know whether you know it or not, but when the ducks and geese are on the wing to the great Southland, when big business men are on the water-wagon, and when all the kids are on their best behavior—well that means Xmas. And, if like me, you remember taking stock at last New Year’s and finding that your entire capital amounted to zero minus, then you know Xmas means PRESENTS, varied and assorted, bust mostly ga lore. Then into your mind flashes vis ions of the dazzling beauties of your world and the tenderest memories flit through your cranium like flies flit ting through the open doors of the down town eating houses. And that’s why this pile of feminine fotographs are before me. I think I should have come to bury the beauties, not to. praise them. Now here’s Zal Lee—at first I was afraid she wouldn’t marry me and then I was afrain she would; and An ita, great squashes how she could park the “malteds”; and here’s Min- nehoho, the only admirable feature about her was her absence; and ah! the little dark-eyed Marcheta, but what a trust she created between the hamburger men .and my- pqor. pocket- book. And a lot of the others I met and fell in love with one night and forgot the next afternoon. But what a collection—why. Tom, if they, all had meant something I might be call- the Man of a Thousand Romances. Let it not be thus. And I wonder what they are all going to give me. Now Billie could give me a nice sporty tie, and Nellie a smoking set, and Rua one of those sporty refers, and Tiddlewinks a nice new paid of shoes—now wouldn’t that be soothing ? But the reaction, what shall I gladden their young hearts with? My gift list must not exceed twenty. Ah! now I have it—I’ll give Ponjola, the favored one, one of those gorgeous special Woolworth’s ohe- cent Christmas cards and THE, OTHER NINETEEN DITTO. That’s 1 twenty cents, unheard-of extrava gance, but my soul and conscience will be AT EASE. Yours for longer hours (sleeping hours I mean), . LES. “Have you ever been married,” ask ed the judge. “Ye-es,” stammered the prisoner. “To whom ?” “A woman.” “Of course it was a woman.” snapped the judge, “did you ever hear of anyone marrying a man?” v ‘Yes sir,” said the prisoner bright ening, “my sister did.” Whereupon he got life.
