Aggieland, September 30, 1924.
Dere Rummit:
Since I last penned an epistle to
you my whole filosophy of life has
changed. That which was once sweet,
beautiful and soolestial is now but a
mixture of sulphur water and hay
fever.
Ya know, Tom, they say the mills
of the Gods grind slowly (or some
thing in that strain); anyhow, I be
lieve because I’ve been down here two
weeks and I hevn’t had that gal’s
letter ground out to me yet. I know
she rote me the morning after the
night before (that’s the night I left).
Yeh, I know that for my irresistible
personality and her desire to get a
drag with me assures me that sweet
solace.
But mebbe I can survive this time.
You know I always was pretty good
at standin’ hardships and jokes.
’Member the time me and you went
up to Helen’s dance with my Tux
on and I started to pull my program
from my pocket to write up the beau
tiful one for a couple of dances and
it wasn’t my program at all but an
undershirt ad featuring that brand
what doesn’t rip, tear nor frazzle at
the corners.
That’s the same nite they christen
ed the Tux with such an odiferous
solution of onion juice and jazz per
fume. Mebbe you haven’t forgotten
how easily I got over that—everybody
helped me laugh it off.
But just the same, if this morbid
state of reflection doesn’t hie away
from me soon I’m goin’ down and
have the Doc diagnosticate my case

TO THE CADETS OF AGGIELAND.
I have been operating theatres in
Bryan for the past fourteen years,
and have seen some very fine student
bodies at the College during that per
iod. But I cannot help taking the
liberty to publicly congratulate the
present student body on your mag
nificent, manly conduct as patrons of
my theatres this year, and your con
duct is general during your visits to
Bryan.
During the game on Kyle Field last
Friday, I realized why you are called
the fighting Aggies, for your “yells”
had that “fire” and “sincereness of
heart” that cannot be beaten. They
had the “punch” and I am sure those
boys out there on the gridiron were
bound to feel it the same as I. With
that kind of spirit and cooperation
you will be a big factor in bringing
another Southwestern Championship
to dear old A. and M.
The title “Texas Aggies” holds an
enviable position in educational and
athletic circles in the entire South,
and I am sure you will all fully live
up to that magic title “A Texas Ag
gie.”
Sincerely,
W. R. FAIRMAN.
