When the doors of the Mess Hall
Annex opened last Saturday Night
for the first Corps Dance of the year,
the Colonel, with his staff, as well
as many other debutants of the mas
culine sex were there itching for the
start. Long before nine o’clock the
floor was full waiting for the first
strains from Aggielands own artists
of the ball-room. The hall was not
decorated, and there were no refresh
ments, for these things are not neces
sary to make a Corps dance a success.
However, a. beautiful carnation was
given each girl as she entered by
Bob Pearson, the representative of
the Johnson Floral Co. of Bryan.
The change in the weather made
dancing a pleasure, and with the Ag-
gieland at its best and a good crowd
present, everyone had a most enjoy
able time.
Some say that the dance was giv
en by the Social Secretary as a birth
day party for one of our week-end
visitors. (Of course she told us her
age, but we are printing facts in this
column so we decline to pass it on).
We are very glad that the honoree,
t Miss Elaine Bizzell, decided to come
back on this occasion to be present
at the first dance of the year. It is
our hope that she will attend all our
dances in the future and will bring
with her equally as charming visitors
as Miss Dorothy Benners, who ac
companied her from Austin this trip.
We are very glad that Misses Patty
Sims and Helen Dowty decided to help
make the first dance a success by de-
ing present. Both of these young la
dies, who are attending Texas U. this
year, drove over from Austin Sat
urday afternoon with Miss Kathleen
Sims, who was returning from her
visit with the “Kappas” during “rusfy
week.”
Miss Sims brought her friend and/
schoolmate with her, Miss Elizabeth
Baker of Austin. Miss Baker is mak
ing a visit in Bryan before returning
to her home.
Other week-end visitors who at
tended the dance were Misses Ricks,
Vaughn, Riggs, and Yantis all from
“cool” San Antonio. They were ac
companied by Mrs. Riggs.
Everyone agrees that the Seniors
made a wise selection when they
elected Harry Duckett, the young so
cial lion of Houston, Social Secretary
and are awiting anxiously for the an
nouncement of the next dance. Here’s
hoping that he doesn’t wait to make
it another birthday celebration.

JUST A WORD TO THE FRESH
MEN.
There were quite a few Freshmen
at the dance Saturday night and all
conducted themselves very orderly.
There is one thing that they over
looked, probably through ignorance,
but as a result of several requests
we are taking this opportunity to call
your attention and their attention to
this fact: DO NOT BREAK A SEN
IOR AT ANY TIME. This is an old
custom that has long been practiced
at this institution and we hope that
the class of ’28 will co-operate with
us and observe this rule.

Among the visitors on the Campus
this week end were, Monty Curry, ’24,
who is “hard at it” as he expressed
it and Louie Clay, ’24 who is still
throwing Fords together in Houston.

H. A. Carroll, ’23 and C. L. Wall,
Jr., ’24, are employed at the Lynn
(Massachusetts) Works of the Gen
eral Electric Co.

Hugh Harris found out that it took
just fifteen cents to paint his girl’s
face for a week. But upon more ex
tensive investigation he also found
that it would take fifteen dollars to
buy enough hootch to put a little red
spot on his nose.

Louis Dodson was progressing fine
ly as a journalist until he read his
stuff to a Bryan 'Belle.

“Cy” Edwards was the Secret Sor
row of half the girls in San Antonio,
and the surrounding community until
they found out he couldn’t dance in
slack trousers.

“Ko” Mowlam was a positive quan
tity until he broadcasted some of the
secret aspirations of a few of his
many and varied lady friends.

Bob Oakes suffered a nervous break
down just before the dance Saturday
night when he discovered that some
one had borrowed his sample bottle
of Listerine.
This editor had a good idea for a
powerful “pun” but is yet grasping
for suitable words to express it.
One thing that we learned at Sum

four aces and a joker.
Putnam: “I want a quarter’s worth

Proprietor: “Veil, dis is a pawn
shop; but mister, we have razors,
ropes and revolvers.”
