REMEMBRANCES OF
SUMMER
CAMP.
’If you really want to know, you
mig-ht ask “Gap” Drisdale how much
a new marksman medal will cost. He
must, be a good marksman, because
hg' fired from stand number 3 and
marked up nearly all of the targets
oft the range.

"Charlie Reagan found a good sub
stitute for the popular old roll ng
pin. After he had greeted a fair
la"dy, she overpowered him with a
pretty green parasol. Don’t tell any
body about this though; it’s a re
quest of Charlie’s.

O. D. shirts don’t wear very well
without B. V. D.’s. You can prove
this by any man who roosted in
“Hell’s Half-Acre”; all of them tried
it once. The names of th's personne'
are to be withheld, but there are
many ways that you can find out just
what the half acre referred to is.

Some of the boys fell in love too.
Of course this is too serious to be
personal, but Louis Clay might tell
you more about the feminine attrac
tions in the Alamo City than the Bat
staff knows.

One might think that Major W. S
Nicholson had been dealing in real
estate during the summer. He spent
most of his spare time trying to dis
pose-of a well-stocked hog ranch.

“Ham” Willis went to his kennels
almost every day to bring out a new
Russian Wolf Hound. He had them
for sale, and there was always a good
marjcet for his valuable dogs.
After “Casey” Bonnett had reach
ed the pinnacle and was allowed to
drill the company one day, he made
this report to the Officer of the Day:
“First Company, all accounted and
present for, Sir!” Can you beat it?

After all though, the camp was a
very successful one. San Antonio
might have one regret, though; it
might be that Colonel Roberts has
moved his office away from the Gun
ter roof and has decided to cast.h's
lot with the Belles of Bryan for the
next few months.
POLA NEGRI AND JACK HOLT
IN “THE CHEAT”
Queen, Thursday, Friday and Sat
urday.
Here’s Pola Negri as you’ve never
seen her! In a sympathetic role. As
a foolish young wife who bargains her
~oul for luxuries and—keeps the bar
gain. The strongest emotional part
over written—and the one actress to
give it soul.—Adv.
A beautiful, luxury-loving woman, a
poor man’s wife—trying to live the
lavish life she was accustomed to—
spending borrowed money with which
to do it—losing heavily at the gam
ing table, hoping to make a killing—
till desperation takes her to a man of
millions—who drives a hard bargain
and relentlessly tries to collect. What
was she to do ? What did she do ?
Here", without doubt, is the greatest
situation ever created. And you know
what Pola Negri can do with it!—Adv.
The man who “Can always get
away with a bluff” usually isn’t
bluffing.
