DAIRY HUSBANDRY TEAM RETURNS AFTER A VERY SUCCESSFUL TRIP The Senior Dairy Husbandry team returned to the campus last Thurs day after enjoying an extensive trip through many Southern and Eastern points. The first stop was Memphis where the team stayed five days and won the Southern Championship. Stephens was high point man of the show. Poage was high point man in Guernseys. A. and M. won six of the seven medals that were awarded. The team spent one day in Shelby- ville where they visited the noted Alandale Jersey Farms. From here they went to Lexington, Ky., and ob served the Kansas U. and Kentucky football game. The men on the team remarked that either team would have been an easy mark for our Bull and company. The next stop was Columbus Ohio, and the team spent a delightful day visiting the Hart man Stock farms and Ohio State U. The Aggies made several other short stops and proceeded to Syracuse for the big show. They stayed four days at the National Dairy show. A. and M. proved her superiority at the big show when Fred Downs won the four hundred dollar cash scholarship for taking high-point man in Jerseys. The rest of the team finished well up among the leaders and gave the other teams a hard and fierce battle. The team returned by way of New York City and Washington, D. C. They stopped off in New Orleans and then back to College. The team was able to give good account of them selves and the whole of Aggieland is proud of them. Much of their suc cess was due to the great coaching of Professor Darnell. The team was composed of F. Downs, L. Stephens, K. Cottingame, and C. Poage. May success always follow you prides of Aggieland. ANIMAL HUSBANDRY MEN LEAVE FOR DALLAS FRIDAY Packard Shoes —have a distinct college ear mark and style. —then their sterling quality and value is unmatchable. W. F. GIBBS & SOM EXCLUSIVE AGENTS ^Ks><8>^><3><$><$><§><$><§><$><^^ On Friday night, twenty-eight Senior and twenty-five Junior Ani mal Husbandry men will leave for Dallas and will be gone until the twenty-fourth. Eighteen of the Sen iors are men trying out for the In ternational Stock Judging Team, and they are making this trip in order that they may work with the animals on exhibition at the State Fair. The purpose in going to Dallas, is to give the men a chance to work with finished animals; one thing the A. H. Department does not have. They will also have access to practi cally all the different breeds of live stock. One day will be spent in judging each kind of stock, and each day will be devoted entirely to judg ing. The men trying out for the team will be given particular attention, and this trip will also serve as an elimi nation contest as the squad will be cut to twelve men upon their return. The other men will benefit by the instruction and practice they receive. It has been rumored that Coach Stangel is going to have the hardest time he has ever had in selecting the six men that will make up the team. This is evidenced by the fact that eleven of the men on the squad have had actual experience in contests; some at the Dallas Fair and the thers at Oklahoma City last year. The entire squad is fighting tooth and toe-nail for a place on the team. The Coach as well as the other members of the A. H. Department are very much pleased with the pro gress the squad is making and the spirit they are showing. Although they are not making any promises, they declare that this year’s team will be the strongest that A. & M. has ever sent to the International Show at Chicago.
