MILITARY STAFF WILL BE LARGER IN COMING YEAR Six New Officers Assigned to Duty Here to Take Place of Four Transferred. There will be a staff of 13 com missioned officers of the regular army and 9 non-commissioned officers to direct the work of military training for the cadet corps of the A. and M. Col lege of Texas for the approaching session. Colonel C. C. Todd will again be professor of military science and tac tics but there are to be six new faces on the staff. Two are additions to take care of the increased strength expected in the corps next year and four take the places of officers on duty here last year but transferred to other posts after the close of the last session. The reorganized staff is as follows: Infantry, Colonel C. C. Todd, Lieu tenant Colonel F. H. Turner, Captain L. R. Besse, Captain R. L. Ware, and Lieutenant H. S. Ruth; Field Artil lery, Captain J. D. Goughian, Captain M. M. Montgomery and Lieutenant H. F. Searight; Cavalry, Captain J. F. Davis, Captain H. J. Fitzgerald and Captain W. E. Buchly; Air Serv ice, Major C. W. Russell; Signal Corps, Lieutenant P. L. Neal. Lieu tenant Neal is the only one expected for duty here on the opening of school who has not been definitely assigned by the War Department. But it is certain that he or some other officer will be assigned for the Signal Corps as the unit will be maintained and Captain L. A. Kurtz, former com mander has been transferred from here. The list of non-commissioned offi cers who will be on duty next year assisting the military staff is as fol lows: Field Artillery, Technical Sergeant J. V. King, Sergeant T. L. Berdine; Infantry, First Sergeant A. Counihan, Sergeant B. Daniel; Cav alry, Sergeant Robert Duke, Sergeant Ernst Seeger; Signal Corps, Techni cal Sergeant J. E. Howell; Air Serv ice, Staff Sergeant M. S. Huls; Ordi nance Sergeant, J. C. Hyland. Colonel Todd has announced that he has made preparations for a very en ergetic schedule of training for the coming year. He has taken full ad vantage of his experience of the last year with the conditions at the Col lege and increased facilities, officers and equipment to strive for greater efficiency in the course of military training. Old officers who will be missed this year are Major W. H. H. Morris, Jr., Captain F. J. de Rohan, Captain J. O. Tarbox and Captain L. A. Kurtz. W. B. Cook, former secretary of the Ex-Students’ Association, and Now agricultural agent for the I.-G. N., is a brave man. The first day after his appointment he put in for a pass for his wife to her home in Ore gon over the Southern Pacific. Older railroad men would not dare ask for such a pass so soon after appoint ment. It pays to ask. Cook drops by the College every few days. Freddie Hale, ’22, and who took his master’s degree at the College this spring, has joined forces with the Santa Fe railroad as assistant gen eral agricultural agent.
