I call therefore a complete and
general education that which fits
a man to perform justly, skill
fully and magnanimously all the
offices, both private and public,
of peace and war.—Milton.
This is a special edition of The Bat
talion issued for the purpose of re
minding Aggies and prospective Ag
gies, whose minds are now dull by the
obscurity of the dog days, of the great
times that await them in the student
associations of the future year at A.
and M. College, and of the inestimable
opportunities that will open to them
to prepare for the play upon life’s
stage.
Following is the list of promotions in the cadet corps for the session of 1923-24 as announced
by President W. B. Bizzell:

A. & M. ATTRACTS BY SERVICE.
There is everything to encourage
every old man to return to A. and M.
this year with new plans and greater
aspirations. The strides by which A.
and M. is advancing into a place of
efficiency far above that of any sim
ilar institution in the world are get
ting longer every year. More rec
ognition is paid to it every year and
this is won only on merit. A. and M.
has never had any clintele but those
who have felt the power of its in
fluence, and that fortunate blessing
has advanced it slowly and by degrees
of surety. In the administration of
its affairs it has been directed only
by the saneness of an educated mind,
free from the danger of partisanship
and prejudice. To this unprejudiced
mind of administration also belongs
credit for the fact that the institution
has been kept open to the “sons of
toil” and its name has never been
smirched by demagogic catering to
superficialities.
It is a practical institution teach
ing the things that assist men to bet
ter conditions in the world, develop its
resources into liquid wealth and ad
vance its citizenship. After forty-
seven years of strict adherence to that
ideal it now has the support of a great
body of practical minded men, keenly
appreciative of its worth to the state
and in this great support the students
of the college have reason for great
pride. This growing body of friends
of the institution alone has been the
source of the constantly increasing
student body, has been the reason for
the rapidly growing esteem in which
the college is held and to these friends
is due greatest credit for the ability
of the present student body to stand
with pride in scholastic and athletic
competition among all other institu
tions.
