AGGIES DOPED OUT TO WIN CONFERENCE TITLE BUCKNER, FLEET BACKFIELD MAN, OUT OF GAME A. and M. Squad Suffers Loss of Most Likely Conference Pick For Backfield Position. No doubt many times during your career at A. and M. you have mar velled at the great Buckner in action on Kyle Field. Buckner’s football ca reer at A. and M. is now a thing of the past. No more will we see him risk ing life and injury for the name of the Aggies. Whenever Buckner carried the ball we were nearly always cer tain of a large gain and many times to a touchdown. Can we not all re member last year on Kyle Field when one of the Longhorns was rushing to wards the goal for a touchdown and the mighty Buckner overtook him and saved the game. This is only one of many instances where he has saved the day for A. and M. Last year Buckner got his leg broken towards the latter part of the season, but when this year rolled around and the call came from Aggieland, Buckner was on the job full of fight and Aggie spirit. It is a true example of Ag gie spirit and one that we should all be proud of. Buckner is not only admired for his work on the fotball field, but for his manly character as well. He has gained countless friends at A. and M. by his clean sportsmanship. This year he came back and in the second game of the season got his leg broken again. When he was carried from the field with that terible pain and agony there was a slight smile upon his lips for he knew he did it for old A. and M. He can let his heart swell with pride for he knows he has done his little bit. Buckner is the type of man that A. and M. is proud of( proud to have him as one of her representatives. It is no more than right that we should give a silent prayer for the man who has sacrificed so much for A., and M. Fellows, let’s all give FIF TEEN FOR BUCKNER! Kant: “This place turns out fine men.” Descartes: “When did you gradu ate?” Kant: “Didn’t graduate; they turned me out.” Notice. Due to Ike’s wedding we will not have space to print Dan Peavy’s so cial calendar for this week. ♦$+■ ■*$«- ■*$«- •*$*• •*$*• •*•£* -*•$«- i AGGIE DOPE i ❖ ❖ ❖ BY * ❖ DEDE ❖ ❖ ►J* +J* +£♦ ■*$*•■*$*■•*$»•■*$«■ ♦£«- •*$*■ ■*$*■ AGGIE DOPESTER RANKS CONFERENCE TEAMS IN ORDER HE THINKS THEY WILL FINISH THE SEASON Some BEAR meat is tough eatin’, but us Aggies have always been able to eat most any kind- of meat. After eating at Sbisa’s once, this Bear meat will be nice and juicy! * * . Gentlemen, after the evening of November 4th, there will be so much Bear meat scattered out over the way from the Cotton Palace to College Station that all the people will think a circus menagerie had been wrecked. It isn’t Baylor any more it is Brad shaw and Bearlettes. No Bradshaw no game! i|i Have always given Jinx Tucker the honor of being the best football sport writer in the State, but the best of ’em go wrong sometimes. Anyway, he is employed by the Waco News- Tribune. X * * Gang, it is going to be an awful crime to disappoint all the people at Waco, for they have been preparing for a perfect year in football for nearly fourteen years. They have been holdin’ Cop Weathers nearly that long but the “beef trust” is now show ing too much finish which naturally occurs from over-conditioning. ❖ i|c :Jc Wosn’t Mr. Ike’s wedding great? Bo, let me tell you—you remember when our Commandant used to get up before us and tell us to do what we didn’t want to and make us like it— with a face full of bloom and sincere thought, but this night Col. Ike was somewhat excited or something, for he was about as cool as a polar bear in Mexico. Anyway, it was one of the most magnificent occasions we have ever seen. We bid you all the hap piness in the world, Mr. and Mrs. Ike Ashburn, etc.! ❖ ❖ ❖ The committee that picks the All- State High School football team that leaves Mitt Dansby, the Bryan star half, off the select few, will certainly make a bone. Waco, Texas.—At the Baylor-A. and M. game the Baylor boys will sit between the A. and M. men and the Baylor girls. The officials are afraid that the Aggies will get “fresh” and the Baylor boys would have to come to their “rescue.” (Editor’s Note—With six hundred Shieks on the campus, not to mention Peavy, what can the girls do ?) Plenty of Opposition Expected to Pre diction Which Gives Farmers Conference Title. The Aggie Dopester has taken upon himself the criticism of many when he lines up the conference teams as fol lows : First—Texas A. and M. College. Second—Baylor University. Third—Texas University. Fourth—-S. M. U. Fifth—Oklahoma A. and M. Sixth—Arkansas. Seventh—-Rice. The above ranking is not expected to be greeted with much enthusiasm, especially those attending the enemy colleges, however, we take the liberty to express our candid, honest, and sin cere opinion as to the future outcome of the Southwestern Conference. Wie have taken all the phases of football in considering this selection and believe we can back it up with fair minded reasoning, if that is pos sible in the game of football. First, Texas A. and M. College has the best coach in the game of foot ball in the South. Why ? Because he plays the game square and has all of his pupils play it fair and square. Other reasons are that he likes the game and in liking the game his un paralleled mind and brain power work automatically with the situa tions that confront him. Coach Bible has already proven that he is a mutual friend of physchology—ask Texas U. Bridges who is a fair coach of football, but is nothing near the equal of Bible. Mr. Bridges has made won derful strides with the Bears. We believe almost any coach could de velop a pretty good team by working three years with practically the same men. Now Mr. Whittaker of Texas, is ranked by many as a wonderful developer of men in the science of football. It is evident that Mr. Whittaker is lack ing in some respect in the game of football by the showing of his last year’s “wonder team” against the Ag gies on Thanksgiving. The team was composed of men who had had years of experience and titles of honor at tached to their names, but this went for naught when Bible’s strategic moves were made. Probably the great est showing noticed recently in the way Coach Morrison of S. M. U. has developed the Mustangs, but with that no conclusive decision can be reached
