THE BATTALION
“Y” IN ACTION
Men interested in Y work began
arriving Monday and conferences were
immediately in order and definite work
was begun. The first plan struck off
was that of having each train, night
and day, met by Y men, and an in
formal introduction made to each
Freshman. At which time the Fish
were presented with a Y handbook.
Tuesday night the complete Associa
tion Cabinet met to hear Dr. Bizzell,
Dr. Fountain and Mr. John Erhard.
Inspiring talks were heard; at which
time Dr. Bizzell again reaffirmed his
deepest interest in religious work and
heartily endorsed the program of the

Religious Program.
The Religious Committee will this
year be responsible for the Sunday
morning Bible School, mid-week Y
service, and with the earnest coop
eration of the student pastors, will
endeavor to come in contact with every
student and campus resident, and with
every enlisted man connected with the
college.
It will be of great interest to know
that several noted speakers have been
asked to speak at the mid-week ser
vices, at which time subjects pertain
ing particularly to the college man
and his religion will be discussed.
Until further notice the student
pastors will organize their respective
groups, and will meet in the follow
ing buildings at the times mentioned:
Episcopalians 9:330 a. m., Sunday,
C. E. Building.
Methodists, 7:30 p. m., Sunday, E.
E. Building.
Baptists, 6:45 p. m., Sunday, Guion

The “Y” at Hollister.
Seventeen A. and M. men attended
the Y. M. C. A. conferences held at
Hollister, Mo. The first conference,
a school for the employed officers of
the Y. M. C. A., closed on the eighth
of June. Fourteen A. and M. men
were in attendance at this conference
throughout the two weeks of the
course. These men were: L. G.
Jones, Ward Browning, .D D. Steele,
B. Eubank, J. J. Wyly, P. W. Drum-
mit, B. B. Naschke, C. K. Frazier, L.
W. Littlejohn, C. Snell, J. A. Albrit
ton, J. M. Fountain, A. L. Parke, J.
S. Smith, and J. H. Wheelock. With
the exception of East Texas Normal,
A. and M. was the only school that
had a large and powerful delegation.
A. and M. pep overshadowed that of
any other organization. The Aggie
yells soon silenced all (cheers) from
other sections. The delegation won
many honors in the activities of the

Members of the staff of instruction and students of the College are extended a cor
dial invitation to avail themselves of our services.
Not on the basis of how large a balance you may maintain but rather from the stand
point of how useful we may be, we solicit your account.
No account too small to receive our careful attention.
When You Think of Banking Think of the FIRST National First
camp. Jones won his way to the finals
in tennis. On Texas stunt night Jones
and Wheelock presented vaudeville
skits that mere the most clever en
tertainment given in camp. Little
john won four first places i nthe track
meet. Browning was chairman of the
stunt committee, and Steele was
chairman of the Athletic committee.
The group made an excellent scholar
ship record also. Much of the best
work of the conference was done by
A. and M.
The second conference, for college
students, began on the tenth of June
and closed on the twentieth. Nearly
all of the A. and M. delegation reg
istered for this conference also. Their
numbers were increased by the ar
rival of Mr. J. E. Lewis, former sec
retary of the Y, Mrs. Lewis, C. E.
Olsen and D. A. Douthit. A. and M.
was prominent in the activities of
this conference as at the previous one.
Olsen was pitcher for the camp base
ball team and manager of Texas ath
letics. Steele was one of the two
officers elected to represent the Texas
group. Drummit was elected Texas
yell leader, and business manager of
the Camp Annual.
The representatives entered thor
oughly into the life of the confer
ences and gathered new ideas and re
ceived inspiration with which they
hope to make the ideals of Christ real
in the lives of the college students.
They won respect for the college
among representatives of all the col
leges of the Southwest.
Social Program.
The social program has been plan
ned to reach the same objective as
that of the religious program, name
ly, that students be led to create on
the campus the social customs and
spirit worthy of a Christian commu
nity. To this end, therefore, is to
take the social program desperately
in earnest being convinced that the
securing of a Christian social point of
view, and the hammering out of so
cial convictions are fundamental
means. The first requisite for success
in this work is a careful survey of the
social situation in the college. The
resume has been partly made, and as a
result entertainment was furnished
in the form of wrestling bouts and a
picture show last Wednesday night.
