THE BATTALION 7 BIG LEAGUE BALL EN JOYED BY STUDENTS (Continued from Page 1) the Athletics pushed two over in the fourth on a pass to Dugan and a mighty swat to left for the circuit by Dykes. Came the last of the seventh and the score 4-3 in favor of St. Loius. Galloway and Strunk began with singles and another single and a wild pitch, an error by Stock and a sacri fice, gave them three runs, Haines then tightened and fanned both Dykes and Styles. Thereafter, he was in no trouble. Rickey ordered Clemons in to pinch-hit for Jess in the eighth but changed his mind whereupon Jess hit into a double play and killed a rally. The ninth was the real session. Shotton opened with his second-two- bagger, this time to right. Heath- cote advanced him with a sacrifice but he was out at the plate on Stock’s tap to Dyke. Hornsby sent Stock on to third with a single and then came Fournier’s tremendous poke to right which made the Athletic’s ninth inning a mere formality. As a result of yesterday’s game, this series which seems now to have started back about 1912 is again knotted, the count being seven apiece. Today the teams are in Bonham for the fifteenth game. Locally, the interest was in D. X. Bible as umpire and the ability with which the home boys skimmed over the fences—while Paul Revere made liis 1920 rounds. ATTENTION JUNIORS! It is the desire of the Editorial Staff of the Junior Battalion to be able to publish their special edition of the “Bat” the next issue. To be able to do this sufficient material must be gathered. Up to the present time the material has been contributed by only a faith ful few. This “Bat” belongs to the Junior Class and it is up to the class as a whole to back it both financially and materially. If you have any bits of current gossip that you would like to have in print send them in. Next Tuesday night marks the last chance of contributing to your class paper. BRANCH RICKEY TALKS TO BASEBALL MEN Immediately after the League game Monday, Branch Rickey watched the A- and M. team work out and was especially pleased with the ability manifested by the home boys. He enthused over the fielding and throwing of Hig and Dwyer and the way they fielded their positions. After the practice he made a short talk to the boys and showed the dif ference between professional and college baseball and the attitude the men have towards the end of win ning. He said that an athlete was repaid in physical and moral gain for every bit of effort he put into his game and that no athlete would last long or be of much service unless he lived a clean life. Rub-My-Tism is a great pain killer. It relieves pain and soreness caused by Rheumatism, Neuralgia, Sprains, etc. 20 TRACK TEAM SUFFERS SOME PHYSICALLY (Continued from Page 1) this is his first year on the track squad he is showing much promise. W. M. Denny, another old man in the pole-vault and hurdles, is round ing into shape nicely. Of the new men who have been kept on the squad, Barmore from Cameron in the pole vault, high jump and 220 hurdles will probably make points for A. and M. this year. R. E. Harris in the 440 and relay is bound to help out and Hailey in the half mile and mile is a man who will not be last when the tape is broken. Dinwiddie in the discus has beautiful form and is getting a lot of distance in his hurl. W. J. Smith in the broad and high jump has a lot of spring and shows all the marks of a good man in these events. J. W. Wilder and T. C. Davis are two good men in the sprints and broad jumps. A. and M.’s best bet in the two mile is W. W. Lynch. Brummett is another sprint man who is running next to Heinie. Two other men in the relay who will help out are H. C. Mitchell and T. E. Riggs. Riggs also does the low hurdles. Eubanks is stepping nicely in the half and promises to be a winner. The squad has been cut to 27 men and from this 27 will be picked the team to go to S. M. U. on the 10th. It will be seen that the bunch as a whole is a well rounded track and field combination and the team that beats them in a dual meet will prob ably win the Conference meet. The schedule for the team follows: April 10, Southern Methodist Uni versity, Dallas, Texas. April 24, Texas University, Aus tin, Texas. April 30, Rice Institute, College Station. May 7, Baylor University, College Station. May 15, Conference Meet, Hous ton, Texas. NEW BASEBALL GRAND STAND COMPLETED The new baseball grandstand which was begun last spring by the Freshmen, has been at last.fully com pleted and stained a dark green and adds materially to the comfort of the spectators who come out for the spring games. All seats have back rests and the stand is covered and has a ventilat ed sunshade. The boxes are well protected by wire netting and the batters box is moved in close to the stand so that every rooter can shout encouragement to his favorite hit ter. The players’ benches are com fortable and well shaded. The dia mond is in better shape than it has been in five years. The paths are sanded and the infield is sodded. The outfield is a perfect green carpet. The condition of the outfield is due a great deal to the goats which were put on there last summer. They keep the grass and weeds down and Kyle Field as a whole is neat as pins. The goats also furnish a barbecue each year for the T men in the spring at the Fish Tank, thereby fill ing a double purpose. Mr. Vick White, who is in charge of the field this year, has made his work tell and the quality of the play ing fields in football and baseball and the track for the track men is due to Mr. White’s untiring efforts. 666 has proven it will cure Malaria, Chills and Fever, Bilious Fever Colds and LaGrippe. 20 We Appreciate The good business we are receiving from cadets and Campus people and assure you we want to make our ser vice and delivery more prompt, if possible.
