dance given by the Elks at their club
in Bryan on Thursday night. Other
wise, you will have to “take your
girlie to the movies”, or sit on some
one’s porch and listen to the gTass
grow.
For entertainment Saturday eve
ning there is to be a Corps Dance in
the Mess Hall Annex. This will, no
doubt, be as well attended in pro
portion as the Hop, and everyone is
urged to stay over as a good time is
always had at our Corps dances.
During all these activities every
student is cautioned to be on his good'
behavior. The Thanksgiving Hop is
one of the biggest events held at
College and the manner in which we
act at the dance will determine our
standing over the State. Let us re
member to behave as gentlemen, for
as the old saying goes: “others must,
gentlemen will”.
No one here must; we will.

Southwestern Freshmen intended
to have their class party Saturday,
November 22nd but various and sun
dry events intercepted their plans.
First the ’23 President was spirited
away. Then, in retaliation the ’22
President was captured by the
freshies. As a direct result of this
latter event the majority of the
freshies were straightway numberd
among the missing.

MAKES queer little shivers

BASKETBALL NEW CENTER
OF ATTRACTION
Aggie Prospects Bright With Five
Letter Men Back.
With the closing of the most suc
cessful football season A. and M. has
ever had all eyes naturally turn to
the prospects of a winning basket
ball team. With the football champ
ionship and the Stock Judging
championship safely stowed away the
proteges of Coach Driver have a
precedent that is hard to beat. Prac
tice is progressing with a snap and
a vim and every man who contem
plates trying out for the club should
be on hand at the very next prac
tice.
One of the reasons why Coach
Driver is showing the preliminary
practice so hard is that three games
have been scheduled for before the
holidays. The Baylor Medics of Dal
las are billed to meet the Farmer
Five here the week before Christmas
for a two game series. Inasmuch as
this school starts basketball about
the time other schools are starting
football they should provide a hard
game for the ambitious Aggies.
It is greatly regretted that Long-
cope, last year’s Captain and star
forward, is absent from school this
year. This leaves Captain McQuillen
the only real vtteran on the squad,
he having seen three years of college
basketball. From last year’s quint
Williams and Forbes remain in ad
dition to McQuillen, while Dwyer and
Gouger are letter men from ’17.
Hortung, DeLee, Ehlert, Knicker
bocker, March, Pierce, Burks and
Keen are all men of experience and
with such an aggregation there will
be no end of competition at the Gym
this winter.
HOP SPLENDID
(Continued from Page 1)
programmes which were very ap
propriate for the occasion, being en
graved with the ornament to be placed
on the team blankets, and inside the
team’s picture together with its
achievement, the first dance com
menced. Holick’s Jazz Band pre
sented the crowd with insuperable
music in a most exquisite selection
of dance pieces.
During the third dance, Garrity
at the head of the band which played
while marching, the well known tune
“Wild Cat”, followed by a bunch of
Fish who seemed to be perfectly
conscious to objecting to Taps call
and dressed like they were enjoying
Mardi Gras, marched into the Mess
Hall. Dancing stopped, while they
gave some yells, and as they entered
they left again. This is the first
time a stunt of the kind has been
done. It increased by far the spirits
of those present by the addition of
more pep. We sincerely hope that
the pi’actice shall continue in future
years. Eleven dances and two ex
tras were danced. Everyone who
danced will never while he lives for
get this time. Here’s hoping for a
yet greater success next Thanksgiv
ing.
WANDERER’S CLUB GETS PINS.
Hitherto the Wanderer’s Club has
had no pin but this year the subject
was discussed soon after organiza
tion and Vice-President F. L. Bert-
schler was appointed to design an
appropriate emblem. The accepted
pin is of gold, the central portion be
ing a reproduction of the Western
Hemisphere, surrounded by a narrow
margin bearing the raised letters:
Wanderer’s Club, Texas A. and M. C.
OUR SWEATERS
dent having his home residence out
side the state being eligible. The
purpose of the club is to promote the
A. and M. spirit among those who
have come from other states and for
eign countries to claim this school as
their alma mater. A live and inter
esting year is predicted for this or
ganization.
