THE BATTALION
SCHOOL OF AGRICULTURE
LOSES TWO POPULAR FAC
ULTY MEMBERS
Professors N. M. McGinnis and
A. McMillan Resign to Enter
Business ^Vorld
December the first witnessed the
loss of two valuable men by the
School of Agriculture. Professor
McGinnis of the Horticultural De
partment, and for years one of the
most popular faculty members of the
entire Colleg’e, on this date severed
himself from the institution and has
gone to Dallas with Mrs. McGinnis
where he is to enter the newly-op
ened field of commercial landscape
art and beautification. Both stu
dents and faculty witnessed his de
parture regretfully and especially
will those students who have known
him personally, either in the class
room or in social life, miss his won
derful personality in their daily
routine.
On this same date, Professor S. A.
McMillan of the Agronomy Depart
ment also separated himself from the
College and with his family depart
ed Tuesday. Mr. McMillan has been
connected with the school as Pro
fessor of Farm Management and with
difficulty will his position be filled
for the coming term. Mr. McMillan
is likewise entering the business
world and is to immediately become
a director of an oil company in which
he holds considerable interest. Pro
fessor McMillan, also leaves a great
body of friends and especially will
he be missel by the students of agron
omy.
SENIOR STUDENT RETURNS TO
SCHOOL AFTER ILLNESS
J. T. Rollins, more familiarly
known as “Dough”, has returned to
school after a few weeks absence due
to hospital confinement from an ap
pendicitis operation. “Dough” is at
tending classes with the aid of a cane
and is greeting his classmates and
profs with his broad smile—we miss
ed “Dough” but that is too mild an
expression to refer to your corres
pondents!
Aleck Han is has composed a par
ody on “You Can’t Get Lovin’ Where
There Aint Any Love.” A certain
young lady of Waco is responsible
for the inspiration. It’s really
good—ask him to sing it for you
sometime.
‘LEAVE IT TO JANE” HERE
NEXT TUESDAY
NOTE OF THANKS
The announcement of the pros
pective visit of America’s best musi
cal comedy “Leave It To Jane,” to
the people of Bryan and College on
Tuesday, Dec. 9th, should be the
means of crowding that playhouse to
its limit when this attraction comes
to town. The book and lyrics are by
Gug Bolton and P. G. Wodehouse and
the music by Jerome Kern. F. Ray
Comstock and Morris Gest, America’s
foremost musical comedy producers,
direct the tour. “Leave It To Jane”
is adapted from George Ade’s fam
ous play, “The College Widow,” is a
delightful story that has both wijt
and ginger, with pretty sentiment,
and it is said there is charm to be de
tected everywhere in this gay pro
duction. The spirit/ of youth and
merrymaking obtains throughout.
