MISS NEALE AND STAFF SERVE MEALS TO Have Worked Faithfully Throughout Epidemic At A. & M. College. The “flu” epidemic at College has brought about one innovation here tofore unheard of in the annals of A. & M. administration. The pass- ersby on the Campus in the past week were very much surprised one day to see overseas canteen work apparently going on in our very midst. On inquiring, the interest ed were enlightened as to the where fore of the unusual sight. On Tuesday of last week, the num ber of ill in the dorimtories became so increased that Dr. Bizzell asked Miss Neale of the Extension depart ment to take charge of the situa tion as regards serving the sick men with meals. Miss Neale called to gether her staff and plans were im- ELITE CONFECTIONERY COLD DRINKS CANDIES CIGARS, AND CIGARETTES. \ '' A ^ '* ! mediately formulated and com- SICK. mittees appointed. For ten days, meals have been thus served by and under the direction of these com mittees. Even the severe rains of last Monday morning did not dis courage these workers, and dinner was served at the usual hour. With the cooperation of Mr. Sbisa and his staff, much depleted by ill ness, the committees have been able to furnish more or less of the regu lation sick diet for all men confined to barracks. Those cadets and soldiers well enough have cooperated splendidly in serving their less fortunate broth ers. The company lieutenants have attended faithfully to do their part in seeing that their men were well taken care of. To the women, especially who have spent many hours each day at kitchen drudgery to do their “bit” to help the situation, too much cred it can not be given. Those in charge of the work are Miss Neale, chairman, Miss Man ning, Miss Alderson and Miss Wip- nrecht in Mess hall, Miss Spence and Miss Roquemore at Station No. 1,' Miss Berry, Miss Wipprecht, and Miss Merwin at Station No. 2, and Miss Higgins and Miss Henley at Station No. 3, where the soldiers have been served. In addition, many catnpus women and other young women working for the college have helped most willingly, and most heartily. <- Personally we hope that out of IC the wreck of empires and the crush' £ j of worlds will come some new force *> | capable of making the fashions more , favorable to fat folks. ❖' *• ♦% !
