Artillery On Parade
Field Artillery passes in Review during a corps
parade in 1917. The latest model of military
tractors pulled the old howitzers along with the
cadets sitting at attention on the cassions.
Aggie Band
The Aggie Band of 1917 line up for their picture.
This aggregation was about a fourth of the size of
the present A&M Marching Band.
Bizzell Receives Letter From France
August 8, 1917
A letter headed “Somewhere in
France” has been received by Presi
dent W. B. Bizzell from five stu
dents who graduated this year from
A&M and who received commis
sions in the marine corps.
The men from whom the letter
was received are J. F. Blanton of
Waco, D. S. Buchanan of Bryan,
F. W. Wilson of Port Lavaca, J. T.
Walker of Fort Worth and W. T.
Galliford of Galveston.
The letter follows:
“Somewhere in Fiance,
July 18, 1917
Dr. W. B. Bizzell,
College Station, Texas
D^ar Sir:
When you graduated us on the
setond day of May I don’t believe
you thought for a minute that we
would so soon be so far away from
College Station, but nevertheless
here we are—five of us: Wilson,
Walker, Galliford, Buchanan and
myself. We are more than pleased
with our situation, although I am
sure that I for one would be hap
pier if I were down around the
old college.
