“PEP” MEETING HELD BEFORE TRACK MEET. An old-time “pep” meeting was well attended by the corps last Thursday night. The purpose of the meeting was to arouse more interest in the track meet, and judging from the size of the crowd out Friday it accomplished its purpose. The meeting was opened with some “pep”-raising yells. Dan Scott ; mana ger of. track ; exprest his desire for the meet to be a success, and made other remarks of interest concerning the meet. Dean Kyle spoke briefly about the progress of the coming high school track meet. He said the meet was arousing interest thruout the State, and a large crowd is expected. Our guests from Austin were called upon for talks. Those responding were Coach Metzenthin, Jordan, Got ten and Mathis. Their remarks were well received and applause was fre quent. DR. University of Texas—The Governor threatens to cut off the appropriation for the School of Journalism on the ground that it is not practical. North Texas Normal — The Texas Intercollegiate Press Association is held wfth representatives from nearly all the colleges and normals of the State. A very interesting and in structive program was given. Visi tors were royally entertained. The C. I. A. Lass-O had reporters on the ground and got out a special edition. Texas Christian University—The students declared a holiday on the first of April and hiked to the Trinity for a picnic. The custom is declared established. The faculty raised no objection. Southwestern University — F. A. Goodsoe, representing Baylor Univer sity, won first place in the annual oratorical contest of the Texas Inter collegiate Prohibition Association, and received a cash purse of $50 and a solid gold medal valued at $50. Now, what is she going to do?— Exchange. NEW EQUIPMENT FOR M. E. DE PARTMENT. The M. E. Department has just in stalled a new forty-inch lathe and also a new four-inch two-spool centering machine. They have recently received, but not yet installed, a new speed lathe for the machine shop. New oil burning forages and a new oil-burning furnace are now installed in the forge shop.
