College, State High School and Academy Association will be held at the A. & M. College April 23-24. Every High School and Academy in the State is invited to participate in this meet. Elaborate entertain ment will be provided for the visitors by the College cadets and the two days meet will be days of unalloyed joy and thrilling events on the track and field. For full particulars, write E. J. Kyle, Faculty Chairman, High School Meet, College Station, Texas. Dates Announced. Formal announcement of the dates for the coming meet of the A. & M. Colllege, High School and Academy Track Meet and Debate was made this week. The cadet corps of the College voted unani mously to invite high school and academy track and field men, de baters and orators to come to the College on April 23-24 for the pur pose of participating in this event. Dean E. J. Kyle of the school of agriculture, who also is faculty chairman of the high school meet, is authority for the statement that nothing will be left undone to make the coming event the best in the history of the organization. Last year there were 29 schools, with a total of 179 boys, entered. State record after State record was broken, and all of the events were thrillers. The Texas high schools and academies this year had the best of all records in football, and it is expected that they will show up equally well in the coming meet at the Colllege. That week will be one of excitement for the A. & M. cadets, as well as for the visitors. On April 21-22 the Texas University base ball team comes to A. & M. for two games of baseball. That in itself will be a big event, as it will afford an opportunity of seeing two splendid baseball teams clash. On the night of April 22 the Ross Volunteers will give their an nual ball. This event will attract at least 100 of the leading young society women of the State to the Colllege, and their presence here during the remainder of the week will serve to make the meet more enjoyable. On Friday morning the track meet will begin. The preliminaries will be run in the morning, and in the afternoon some of the finals will be called. That night the debate and oratorical contest will be held, when leading young Texas orators and declaimers will meet in contest over the discussion of some current topic. Saturday morning the remainder of the finals will be run, and immediately after noon the annual athletic carnival will be held. The carnival, with its “great variety of wonderful shows and thrilling at tractions and with much dancing in the gymnasium,” will hold the boards until midnight. At the dance that night trophies will be pre sented to the winning teams and individuals, and the track meet will be brought to a close. Visitors to the meet will be accommodated in the dormitories. A. & M. cadets will look after their home delegations, and on Satur day night, if the usual custom is carried out, the track men and speakers will be honor guests at banquets to be given by the A. & M. clubs from their home towns. All schools which are planning to enter this meet should com municate with Dean Kyle immediately, in order that the preliminary meets may be arranged. A. & M. cadets are writing home to their high schools, urging the boys “at home” to put out their very strong est team, and it is beginning to look like there will be some warm contests here in April. Low rates will be offered on all railroads. A. & M. has the best track equipment in the State. In addition to the quarter-mile circular track, a splendid 220-yard center straight away makes the events more spectacular. oo •a-o- o-n- ■0--S- ■a--a- os> oo -fr-O •oo 0-0 oo oo •cm -a-a- o-i> -a-a- -a-a- <H> •a-o -cm oo oo -a-s- o-o -»«• -H-a- -a-a- oo -a-a- -a-a- -a-a- -a-a- -a-a -a-a -a-a a-a a-a a-a- aa -a-a a a a-a a-a •a-a -a-a -aa aa 5a ga 2-®- 2^ 2* 2^ 2a 2^ 2* 2- a- aa aa. a2 -»2 -a' a ' ra 2a 2a 2a 2a 2a 2a 2a 2 a 2a IS Is aa aa aa aa a a 22 aa aa a a aa au- aa aa aa aa aa aa aa aa aa aa aa aa aa aa aa aa aa aa aa aa aa aa aa aa aa aa aa aa aa aa aa aa aa aa aa aa aa aa aa aa aa aa aa aa aa aa a a aa aa aa aa $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ $$$$$$ PLAY is no longer associated sole ly with childhood pastimes.
