The work of etxension is large ly one of publicity and Mr. Ousley’s experience as a newspaper man will fit him to secure the greatest possible advertising for the work of this col lege. Mr. Ousley’s interest in agricultur al work is not a recent thing, but for years he has been studying rural con ditions and giving time, thought and effort to the uplift of rural districts. It has been his effort to discover and assist in bringing about the proper en vironments for keeping the boys and girls on the farms and to discourage the movement from the free, open life of the country to the congested city districts. In this he is a public bene factor. His specialty is the marketing of farm products and he has long been an influential advocate of the bonded warehouse plan for the marketing of cotton. Only last year he was sent abroad as the representative of A. and M. College on the Farm Life and Welfare commission. This commision visited the countries of Europe and made an exhaustive study of rural conditions on that continent, in order that they might learn how European LOCAL NOTES. The old chapel building which was condemned a year ago has been thor oughly repaired and will be used as an auditorium this year. Plans are now being drawn for a new laundry building. It will be a small brick structure but thoroughly modern. Work on the new laundry is soon to begin. The corps was treated to a free mov ing picture show Monday night. These shows will occur weekly. R. B. Pearce and J. B. Bagley, as sistant instructors in C. E., and G. H. Blackmon, assistant professor of horti culture, have resigned. Prof. Pearce will do road work in Robertson Co. and Prof. Crockett in Robertson Co. Prof. Blackmon will do nursery work in Waxahachie. All three of these are alumni. Walter Wipprecht, for ten years tax collector of Brazos County, is now business manager for A. and M. and Prairie View.
