AVERY’S MR. BILL RIDING COTTON AND CORN PLANTER B. F. AVERY & SONS PLOW COMPANY DALLAS, - - - - TEXAS Nr. Bill Strong Points fWf HE SIMPLE FACT that MR. BILL does better work than any other planter and that it is strong, durable and * light draft is not the only reason for its wide spread pop ularity. MR. BILL has some distinctive features that appeal particularly to the farmer, features that tower far above any mark imitators have yet been able to approach. The main opener, sub opener and covering standard are raised and lowered by one lever, after standards are raised a certain height, a patented device automatically throws the hopper out of gear; in this way one movement of the one lever accomp lishes more than can be done with the two or three levers on other planters. MR. BILL is the original and only one lever planter. It does the work and does it right. Beware of Imitations! SOCIETY NOTES DANCE FOR MISS LEBO. A most brilliant post-Easter event was the dance given Monday by Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Bressler in honor of their sister, Miss Carrie Lebo. Prompt ly at 8 o’clock on the appointed even ing the guests began to appear at the Bressler cottage, each lady bringing with her an Easter hat of her own design and make. These hats were put on display, the gentlemen provid ed with bags containing twenty-five candy eggs each, and the sale began, the men exchanging eggs for hats. After the sale was effected, followed by an auction of a few “left overs,” the entire party went to the gymna sium and the dance was on. Miss Lebo, gowned in blue char- meuse and carrying an arm bouquet of roses and carnations, favored Mr. S. A. McMillan as her partner, and to gether they led a very graceful prom enade. The twelfth dance was marked on all programs “Hat Rush,” and when it arrived the hats were placed along one side of the wall, and a veritable rush for them by the gentlemen en sued. Following this fray, partners were secured for the refreshment dance, and the gay dancers paused long enough to do full justice to the delicious pineapple cream and angel food cake. The strains of “Home, Sweet Home,” were heard all too soon, and there were many regretful sighs that the happy evening had ended, but the cordiality and charms of host, hostess, and honoree will never be for gotten. The guests were Messrs, and Mesdames Wooten, Silars, Tatum, Potts, Bagley, Fermier, Ridgway, Felker, Paddock, Evans, Canfield, Tem pleton, Youngblood, Jones, Misses O’Neil, Bump, Walker, Ogles, Davis, Milner, Mrs. Carter; and Messrs. Thomas, Bond, Powell, Click, Thorn ton, Gofer, H. L. Thomas, McMillan, Tutler McMillan, and Carpenter. MRS. YOUNGBLOOD ENTERTAINS. On Friday afternoon, March 21, Mrs. Bonnie Youngblood was hostess to a most enjoyable card party, in honor of her house guest, Mrs. Carter. The rooms, always full of home-like charm, were even more attractive than usual in their festive array, for Easter lilies, ferns, and falins filled every nook and alcove with sweetness <\nd beauty. On each table was a tiny Easter basket bearing the number of the table, while in it was a downy chicken. After a series of six-hand euchre games, the prizes were awarded, Mrs. O. M. Ball receiving the first prize, a delicate lace collar with ivory sticks, a charm ing Easter souvenir; while the booby, a basket of Easter eggs, went to Mrs. Charles Felker. Cut glass receptacles on each table held white mints during the progress of the game, and at the close of the afternoon there were passed dainty plates containing cream and the lightest of angel food, iis whiteness carrying out the color idea of this pleasant springtime event. A WONDERFUL GUN. Fish Clarke, H. S. (to Professor McPheeters)—Say, professor, if I had a two-pound gun that shoots a half- pound bullet twenty-two thousand feet a second, how far would it go? Anderson, B. W.—Say, “Dutch,” that ram list would not be anything if my name did not head the list. Zincke, A. G.—That is nothing, mine always brings up the rear. Old Boy (to Fish)—Someone told me you were seen with a girl in Bryan the other day. Is that so? Fish—If a Fish said that he lied; if an old boy said it, he’s mistaken. JUNIOR DANCE. In spite of all that has been going on to break up this “wonderful institu tion,” the Junior Class, dismantled as it is, celebrated their second dance of the session out at the fashionable dancing pavilion of the Athletic Asso ciation. The couples were somewhat limited, but nevertheless enjoyment was in the air because Charley was in a con dition to play unusually well. However, it was feared at one time that it would be broken up by the dancers ceasing their merry whirling to watch the “Bear Cat Rag” that was taking place outside the sidelines. This dance was indeed original and taking, and seemd a large amount of fun to the participants; but those on the floor could not give up their part of the fun by stopping to watch. Beasley led the affair, while Stacks took care of the finances. Simpson, thanks to him, had the floor clean and in excellent condition, in that way eliminating the disagreeable custom of sweeping in the middle of the dance. As a whole, it was a great success and here is hoping that they have an other before June arrives.
