League now have taken concrete toim, ' and a good schedule is assured. Tne ! : captains and managers of the teams j met Monday night and formulated rules for governing the new athletic league. The Rules. Eligibility rules: (a) No man will be allowed to play who has represented the college in any game with another school classed as a college, i. e., T. C. U., Baylor, Southwestern, Trinity, Austin, Daniel Baker. (b) Any man who left the squad on iris own accord is not eligible. Time Regulations of Game. The quarters will consist oi ten minutes each; intermissions of three minutes between quarters, and ten minutes between halves. Deposits. Twenty-five dollars shall be depos ited by each battalion for sweaters for the winning team, and three dol lars and twenty-five cents for footbafis. These amounts must be deposited by November 12. Official^ for Games. Referee, James Sullivan; umpire, E. F. Gochenour; field umpire, R. J. Potts; head linesman, Bruce Frazier. Association Officers. The adjutant of each battalion shall be manager for his battalion team. The sergeant major shall be assistant manager, and be respnsible for all equipment until beginning of next sea son. A president shal’ be elected by the managers and captains. Schedule. Wednesday, November 9—First and Second battalion teams. Saturday, November 12—Second and Third battalion teams. Wednesday, November 16-—Third and First battalion teams. Saturday, November 19—First and Second battalion teams. Wednesday, November 23—Second and Third battalion teams. Saturday, November 26—Third and First battalion teams. At the meeting Monday night H. M. Pool was elected to the presidency of the league for 1910. The new literary society, the agita tion of which was mentioned in a re cent issue of The Battalion, was or ganized in the parlor of the Austin Literary Society Saturday night. Preliminary to the organization Profs. Bressler, Britton, and Griswell made very convincipg talks on the necessity of a technical man having the ability to address public gather ings. These gentlemen expressed a willingness to assist in the work of both the new society and the Austin Literary Society. The new society is a literay and debating club and* starts out with twenty charter members, bidding fair to arouse much interest among the students in literary work. A number of seniors are joining in order to get some practice outside of their course in public speaking.
