The faculty set Saturday aside
as a holiday in celebration of tbe
battle of San Jacinto, the anniver
sary of which came on Sunday. At
8 o'clock Saturday morning the
corps marched to tbe chapel, where
short commemorative exercises
were held. The ceremonies wen
opened with a song and prayer
"America" was sung, and Dr.
Powell read a portion of the sixth
chapter of Luke. Prof. Potts then
gave us • a abort sketch of Sam
Houston’s life, which is so closely
linked with the history of Texss.
