Saturday- the squad treated
corps to the first game of the
son. While the game was a little
qne-aided, it served its purpose of
allowing up the players and the
workings of the new rales. The
difference noticeable to an outsider
Was the increased number of end
runs and kbit frequency of kicking.
Many of the new players are show
ing np in 'most promisi-iR style,
while the’old players have improv
ed to a noticeable extent at all
points. Rdss is great at interfer
ence, and it makes one jump for
jOy to a<e him play tenpins with
1 his opponents. Hamilton was very
sticceaaf'al in punting and in trying
at goals, lie has s good reputa
tion to sustain and we are sure he
will do it. ifStn.s and Marlow are
both fast, hard workers and Mur
phy is going to be a hard man to
root out of right half. Captain
Puckett is at his old trick of
smashing interference, and made
many pretty gains. Cornell has
also inedeas^d his speed and ability
to gain ground. Dale got through
st vi r.»l times to smash the plays.
Utay at lint bucking is as great as
ever and cap always be depended
upon to ma^e a good gain. KsHey
made rubs anywhere from ten to
sixty yards. He can’t hurdle this
year but up is the only direction
Ije dosen’t 4odge. Pete Bittle says
that if Choc wants any interference
he will hare to walk. We are
proud of thj* whole squad and 'fee!
confident tl^at there is a string of
victories ahead. This is the way
they liifc^d qp at the kickoff t

9HS, as the team must be
selected from those who enter this
term, some fdea of what we will
have in the way of a team may be
formed.
Cap*. Smith expresses himself as
very much pleased with the out
look^ and as he already knows
many cm the new players, we can
do no better than to accept his
word that ofir liase ball team i* go-,
ing to be a hummer.
The senior class has the thanks
of everyone interested m the suc
cess of the team. There is no
donbt that . their posters, were re
sponsible for the corps remaining
on the side lines during Saturday’s
gam<2. Now why not issue a
”prpc” relative to cheering. Hard
ly a play during the whole game
was rewarded with even a murmur.
Let’s gdt busy, fellows. “Keep on
