point of excellency. This was followed by a talk to Seniors.
It was not a flowery speech, but full of hard common sense
and good advice.
At 4:30 o’clock drill call was sounded for the Battalion
Drill and Sham Battle. The drill proved to every one that
the corps were better drilled than they had been for years.
The Sham Battle came immediately after the drill, company
“A” was in ambush among the trees and bushes in the
southern part of the campus. “B” and “C” companies
were the attacking forces, while company “D” was held
in reserve. Gun powder was used freely. When the din of
the rifle was hushed and the smoke of battle had cleared
away the combined forces of “B,” “0” and “D” companies’
were in possession of the enemies’ stronghold.
Dress Parade followed and as the band played “The
Star Spangled Banner,” “Old Glory” was pulled down for
the day.
The Annual Reunion of the Alumni was held at eight
o’clock. The alumni address was made by Mr. B. C. Pittuck
in which he appealed to the members to uphold the name of
their dear Alma Mater. His address impressed every one
with its eloquence and earnestness. This was followed by a
business meeting. The following officers were elected: B.
C. Pittuck, president; R. S. Tilson, vice-president; J. S.
Sleeper, vice-president; W. T. Carter, vice-president; Tom
Griffith, vice-president; George McCormick, vice-president;
