12 THE BATTALION. PROFESSOR JOHN A. CRAIG. Professor John A. Craig*, Dean of the Department of Agriculture at the A. & M College, and Director of the Ex periment Station at College Station, the subject of this sketch, was born in Ontario, Canada, in 1868. He attended Ontario Agricultural College from 1885 till 1888, graduating with the degree of B. S. A. One 3*ear after his graduation he became managing editor of the Canadian Live Stock and Farm Journal. After serv ing three j*ears in this position. Professor Craig was elected Professor of Animal Husbandry in the University of Wiscon sin, serving in this position till 1897. lie resigned to en gage in farming and stock raiding at Rice Lake, Wisconsin. In 1898 Professor Craig was again chosen Professor of Ani mal Husbandry and Vice Director of Experiment Station ar the Universitj* of Wisconsin, where he remained three 3*ears. He then became editor of the piene Publications, The Iowa Homestead, Wisconsin Farmer and Kansas City Live Stock Indicator. Remaining in this position only a short time, he resigned on account of failing health, and came to Texas. Since coming to this state, h as interested himself in farming, and especially live stock.
