The past month has been a most suc cessful one for the Austin Society. One meeting (October 27th) was missed on account of the corps being in San Anto- n)!|0, but the other three meetings were largely attended and very enthusiastic. It is gratifying to see the new members attending so regularly and bi'inging up their parts when on the program. Among the new members are several who show promise of developing into good speak ers. It may fall upon one of these men to represent our College in the State ora torical contest next spring. On November 3d Professor Connell de livered an address before the society. Every seat in the hall was filled, and the boys listened with closest attentljon to the words of wisdom and advice that flowed so smoothly from the speaker’s mouth. Not only were all present bene fited and entertained by the address it self, but the style of delivery Avas such as to be a mod'el for all aspiring society workers. We hope Professor Connell will be a frequent visitor at our society. A constitution and by-laAvs were adopted by the society at the meeting of November 10. This fills a long-felt want. We have been someAvhat short on seats, but this deficiency Avill be supplied in the near future.
