28 THE BATTALION. And' he made a forty-yard run. The second touchdown was then made In a few seconds of time. And the third was made by “Cap.” Schultz, As he thundered down their line. The first half was over, The men took a little rest. And Henry College and A. and M. Were being put to the test. As the second half was started And Davidson put in his place, It was seen by all who were present, Henry held the losing part of the race. I will not enter into details To tell about the game, .But will say that Henry College Was not so much to blame. While the breeze was blowing softly, While the sun was shining bright, Henry was thinking of their College In a drear and lonely spot. Although they were defeated By a score of forty and four, They are not our enemies, And don’t feel very sore. Henry men! you are all right In your own kind of w r ay, And we’ll all take pleasure To welcome you back most any day. Don’t get discouraged at this, your first defeat. Keep on playing football till you find a team to beat. And now I shake each by his hand, And let you depart to your own sweet A. and M., 44; Henry College, 0. The College boys had some good prac tice with the visitors from Henry Col lege, Texas, October 19th. The football contest on that afternoon between A. and M. and Henry College proved a very good practice game for A. and M. The Henry College boys were well pleased with all of the decisions, and good na- tutbdly acknowledged that they were outclassed in every respect. Although somewhat unequal, the game was very interesting. Having possession of the ball most of the time, the A. and M. boys walked away with the visitors, gaining through the line and making some long runs around the ends. The College defensive work was very good also, and the visitors only suc ceeded in making their necessary five yards once. A. and M. did a great deal of fumbling in the first part of the game, which prevented the score from being higher. The feature in the latter part of the game was the punting by Schultz and others of the team getting down the field before the opposing team could ad vance the ball. In this way three touch downs were made in the last two min utes. The game was called at 4 o’clock and A. and M. kicked off to the 15-yard line and Henry advanced five yards. Then Henry lost the ball on downs. A. and M.’s ball and Grey is sent around the end for the first touchdown of the sea son, and Schultz kicked goal. Score 6 to 0. Henry kicks off and McGinnis brings the ball back ten yards before downed. McGinnis goes around the end for fifty yards, and A. and M. loses the ball on a fumble. Henry tries to plunge through A. and M.’s line, but is forced to kick, and Schultz brings the ball back ten yards before downed, and McGinnis is sent around the end for a touchdown. Schultz fails to kick goal. Score, 11 to 0. Henry kicks fifteen yards and New berry is downed after advancing the ball three yards. They line up and Thrower gets through left tackle for five yards. McGinnis goes around the end twenty
