may God bless you, and to that let us
also add those words of strangely min
gled pathos and humor that James
Whitcomb Riley puts into the mouth
of the old hoosier farmer, as his son
Jim goes forth into battle, and again
as that same son, stricken with shot
and shell, closed his eyes for the last
time upon the beloved face of his
father. So we to-day to each one of
you, as you go forth Into the battle of
life, say: “Good-bye, Jim, take keer of
yeselves.’ r
