THE BATTALION. 23 Ooershiver, Ragsdale, Hirschfield, Dowell, Tips, McFar land, Piccolo Williams, Blankhead, Puckett, Alsworth and others whose names we cannot now recall, smiled up on us and hospitably gave us their time, just as they used to do at College when time was so precious. Thus we spent the day, no accident, nothing to mar the pleasure of the occasion, except that one of our party was sick. Mr. Boyett should have known better than to eat all that Austin candy when he had a store full of Blanke’s best at home. The citizens of Austin were extravagant in their praise of the gentlemanly behavior of the cadets. Whilst we appreciate their encomiums, we would have them know that we had on our everyday uniforms; that cadet life means gentlemenly conduct. We reached home wiser, better men, for having thus enjoyed ourselves. It remains to see whether an outing of the character has any effect upon the “cramming” process which precedes final examinations. We say again, come over Governor Sayers and bring your court with you, bring all of Austin if you choose; we will do you the honors of the A. & M. gratefully.
