Vol. 6. College Station, Tex., May-June, ’99. No. 8.
Among- the pleasing- reminiscences of the month, in
deed of the year, must be recorded our trip to Austin, by
invitation of the Governor, to attend a reception gdven by
him to the State educational institutions. Governor Sav
ers is disposed wisely to cherish that part of his field out
of which permanent citizenship is to grow, and we honor
him for it. Just as we like to have the farmers, the rail
road men, the professional and industrial representatives
of our State, call in on us during- the year and investigate
the meaning and practicability of our college work, so it
is well that the youth in training in our schools should
now and then be brought into actual contact with the
governmental machinery of our Capital.
