We owe a debt of warm gratitude to this Legislature for the recognition of the claims of the A. & M. College upon the people of the State. Our thanks are no less due to the Governor for his thorough appreciation of 'the im portance of the measures passed, and his consequent en dorsement of these liberal appropriations. It lies with us now, as his Excellency said at the Alumni Banquet, to prove that we are worthy of the generous confidence of the State. Upon our use of this bounty * depends its con tinuance; and the increased and increasing usefulness of the A. & M. College will insure not only its continuance, but its augmentation also. Let a people once recognize in industrial education the source of their wealth, and they will spare no expense in deepening the foundation and broadening the area of the edifice.
