BOARD OF DIRECTORS.
The following- self explanatory letter was recently sent
out by the executive committee of the Alumni Association:—
College Station, Texas, Feb. 8, 1899.
Dear Sir:—
The Attorney General has held that the present law,
which provides that the term of office of the Board of
Directors of the A. & M. College shall be six years, is in
valid because each member of the Board is paid at the rate
of five dollars per day during meetings of the Board,
which fact makes the position an office within the mean
ing of the constitution.
In accordance with this decision, the term of office of
each member expires two years from the time of his ap
pointment, and the term of office of the present Board will
expire next June.
