THE BATTALION. 17 The action of the board of directors in postponing the election of a president till a later date was certainly very wise. Such an important step, on which the future prosperity and usefulness of the college depends, should not be taken unadvisedly. Several able men have applied for the posi tion, and no doubt the board will select a man that is capable of filling the place. Meanwhile everything is running smoothly under the direction of Prof. Whitlock, president protem. The improvements now being made on the campus will add greatly to its attractiveness. The new mess hall is de veloping into a beautiful building, and when, finished, it will be one of the handsomest structures on the campus. Profs. Whitlock and Soule are established in their new cottages. The line of brick dwellings are being furnished with pleasant verandas. All of the cottages, and the roofs of the barracks, main building and shop have received fresh coats of paint. The dairy building has been enlarged and a new separator and four new microscopes have been added, and various im provements have been made in the agricultural, mechanical and horticultural departments. A Steps are being taken to erect upon the campus a marble statue of the late President Ross. We think that the service that President Ross rendered our college stiould be recog nized in some such way. ^ ^ * The attention of the cadets is called to the fact that our advertisers are the most prominent business men in Bryan, and that without their patronage the Battalion could hardly be published; and we request that you patronize those who advertise with us.
