the goods are to be consumed. Up-to-date knowledge pos
sesses all of the virtues attributed to the ancient article and
some which former centuries never knew.
In the arena of nature hidden, as it were, is a vast fund of
knowledge far surpassing the capacity of finite minds to com
prehend. Inasmuch as none of you can acquire all knowl
edge, it is prudent to select that field of investigation and
study which best comports with individual taste, the necessi
ties of the student and the good of the world. Having made
a selection and mapped out a course, let it not be lightly
changed. Good resolutions should be as hard to move as the
granite hills, and the course decided on should be pursued
with the persistency of a blood hound and the tenacity of a
bulldog.
In conclusion, let me urge you with all your getting to get
knowledge—get nineteenth century knowledge—get knowl
edge that will make the world better and yourselves happier.
Get knowledge that you can use as a perfect workman uses
his tools.
In the beautiful language of Solomon, the son of David:
“Get wisdom, get understanding, forget it not; neither de
cline from the word of my mouth.
“Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee; love her
and she shall teach thee.
“Wisdom is the principle thing, therefore get wisdom, and
with all thy getting get understanding.
“Exalt her and she shall promote thee; she shall bring
thee to honor when thou dost embrace her.
“She shall give to thine h^ad an ornament of grace; a
crown of glory shall she deliver unto thee.”

With this issue of The Battalion another term has passed
into history and the Seniors are beginning to look forward
with great pleasure to the time when they shall receive their
long worked for and coveted diplomas. Not a tew are still
in the dark as to occupation they will follow alL are agreed
that’ they will either be rich or famous before thirty five, but
how it is to be accomplished is a question yet to be solved.
