The battalion was then reformed, and extended order drill executed with blank amunition, with excellent results. ARTILLERY DETACHMENT. Manual of the piece with blank amunition well executed. SIGNAL DRILL. The signal detachment was reported, but owing to the late ness of the hour, no practice or exercise was given. INSPECTION OF QUARTERS. The quarters were inspected and found to be neat, clean, well arranged, and comfortable. MESSING. The mess hall was inspected, and the formation of the bat talion at-mess call (supper) witnessed. The battalion was formed at quarters and proceeded by the band playing, marched to the mess hall, entered and seated without confu sion, and upon the entrance of the inspector came to atten tion promptly. The mess hall and messing facilities are ex cellent, and the system of discipline thorough and creditable. ARMORY. The armory is suitable and neat, and the arms are securely and carefully stored. ARMS. Pieces field artillery 2 Cadet rifles 230 BAND. The band of this college is deserving of special notice. It is composed of fifteen good musicians, supplied with the best instruments, is thoroughly trained and efficient. Its organi zation and high standing is due to the efforts of Lieutenant Bartlett.
