42 THE BATTALION tion is intended are being viewed in a new' light by the stu dent body in general. Boys are beginning to see that its- members are sensible, practical people who belong to it for- sensible prcietical reasons, who are interested not only irr building up the religious and moral tone of the College, feut also in building a better reputation for it. Not the fana»t5cals religious cranks, which perhaps was the view taken of it- iru> days that have been. The attendance at the Sunday evening, devotional meetings has increased considerably over )a?d year’s attendance, and the interest shown as good as could be wished. The work done by the amusement committee fills a place- in Y. M. C. A. rank? that wid no doubt odd much strength t»- its name, by bringing the organization and its true objects more fully into notice, both to the campus people and the- corps of cadets. Though only two entertainments, in the form of lectures, have been given much interest was shown and good support given. We are sorry to say that the gymnasium, owing we sup pose to the increased amount of out-door sports, has not been supported and patronized as well as usual. The gymnasium,, if managed properly and so that its patronage would accrue patronage to the Y. M. C. A., we could w’ell afford to furnish* the necessary m°ans for keeping it in perfect repair, but iff it is not made to accomplish this purpose it would be well to make new arrangements for its maintenance, as it is a con stant drain on the treasury. We hope that in future the- work may prosper and increase as it has done already in the- past. The Y. M. C. A. is a great organization, both in its- objects and in the number of members and it is the wish of the retiring members from the senior class that the A. and M_ organization may do its own. part and add much brightness the glistening array of trophies which the Y. M C. A. has? already captured in this wide land. President Todd has announced the appointment of ihf billowing committees : Reception Committee, B. F. Bryan, chairman : Hospital committee, J. Y.
