14 THE BATTALION more facilities—she is alright for her size, but is not growing as she ought. It is a state institution—a school for the masses. A thousand young men ought to receive their train ing there instead of three hundred. Let us get together and consult about this and consider if we cannot help her out of this difficulty. Let us make at least one effort to so direct public opinion that neither legislature nor governor shall hereafter presume to deny her just and reasonable requests. And also let us get together and renew and strengthen the ties of good fellowship that should subsist among the children of the same nursing mother. The faculty and officials of the College will be proud to greet you, whether of 1879, or later years ; and the younger members of her hopeful family will be glad to meet those who have trodden the same paths that they are traveling now r —conned the same lessons, struggled with the same problems and suffered the same discipline. Our A. and M. graduates seem to be sufficiently versatile to fill any honorable calling in life. Among them are farm ers, horticulturists, machinists, civil engineers, contractors, land surveyors, stock breeders, lawyers, physicians, dentists, merchants, book-keepers, stenographers, journalists, druggists, insurance adjusters, insurance agents, drummers, lumber dealers, brick makers, and so forth, and so forth, and we are happy to state, that as far as known to this writer, they have- uniformally taken high rank in their callings.
