Carson was engaged in the drug business for about two years. In 1890 he was elected assistant professor in ag riculture. He has also taken a post graduate course, receiving the degree of B. S. in 1893. W F. Woxdward is a prominent mer chant of Denton, Tex. C. C. McCulloch is assistant surgeon in the United States army. At present he is stationed at Fort Ringgold, Tex. Encouraging letters still come in in regard to the banquet. C. H. Pesky, ’87, paid the college a a hasty visit last month, E. W. Hutcheson, ’89, paid a visit to Dallas on the 28th ult. H. L. WRIGHT. As the Alumni on^- know me from from my matriculation, let my biogra phy begin from there. First, let me ac knowledge with thanks the increasing kindness shown me during my three years of college life by the faculty, of which I believe only Profs. Whitlock and Smith remain, and to these two offer my best wishes for their good work to con tinue. After graduating at the June ’86 Commencement, I came to this city on a visit to my sisters and brothers, where I spent two weeks meditating over past events and planning over the future. Thence I went to Dallas Texas and ac cented a position in the engineering de partment of the G. C. & S. F. railroad, where I remained six or seven weeks when I went to the Misouri Pacific in the same capacit}^ and worked for about thirteen months. I then returned here* and continued in the service of the Mis ouri & Pacific railway between this point and Little Rock, Ark., for some time. Finally severing my connection with said company and entering into busi ness in this city on October 5th, 1888. At the time last mentioned I accepted a position with George W. Burkett, the well-known railway contractor, having a general oversight of his business, which I held until June 1, 1892, when I ac cepted the management of this, the Pal estine Water and Power Co., which I still have the pleasure to hold. Aside from this I am secretary of the Palestine Loan Association and the Mechanics’ Building a"d Loan Association, and do a fair fire insurance business. But I have only briefly told you of the business side of my career since graduating, and said nothing of the social side. There is but little to tell you of this; as business men have but little time for the “society” side of life, more especially young men who must needs ascend the scale of suc cess by their own efforts. On May 9th, 1890 I was married to a lady of this city, went immediately to housekeeping and we still live.happily in our little home, having two children to share our joj’s and sorrows. I notice that I have been carried in the catalogue ns engineer; in the future, or until further notice, please put me down as manager of the Palestine Water and Power Co.
