A sad fate has overtaken two voung
swedes, who started in June last year for
the exploration of the arctic regions.
They have both lost their lives. Their
enterprise was sanctioned by the Geogra
phical society of Stockholm, which had
given them maps and charts, and also*
some instruments to take observations.
The Pennsylvania world’s fair com
mission has wound up its affairs as a-
state institution and converted itself into •
a permanent social organization, with
Gov. Pattison' as president, ex-Repre-
sentative Hasson as vice president and
Rodney Mercur as secretary and treasur
er.
