Dear Gang:
Here are a few news items of
’36 men for the Aggie.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert W. Max-
well, Jr., ’86, announce the birth
of a daughter, Mary Christine, on
August 30, 1946.
Harris Underwood, Jr., ’36, was
recently elected the first president
of the newly organized Houston
Petroleum Club.
The Houston A. & M. *“ Whing
Ding” was a howling success with
a record attendance, but the class
of ’36 seemed to be very sparsely
represented, However, I did see
Weldon Appelt, who is in the con-
sulting engineering business and
doing fine; Mosehart Qualtrough,
who is employed by the United
Gas Company; and John Lang, who
is with the Stanolind Oil and Gas
Co.
I dropped in on a meeting of the
A. I. M. E. in Galveston last month
and caught a glimpse of Jack
Shepherd and J. C. Blackwood and
C. B. Caruthers, but I had to
leave before the session adjourned
and didn’t get a chance to talk with
any of them.
The ’36 boys seem to be pretty
widely scattered and hard to keep
track of, but I'll drop you a line
any time I get any news on any of
them. Will you do the same, send-
ing it to Secretary McQuillen at
Collge?
Am enclosing my gift to the
Development Fund. Certainly hope
the class of ’86 will make a better
showing in the percentage of con-
tributions this year.
Best regards to all.
Sincerely,
Dudley J. Lewis

W. A. “Doc” Ruhmann
Extension Service, Campus
September 27, 1946
Dear Classmates:
Next year will mark the tenth
anniversary of our Class. Since
our time in “Boots” many chap-
ters have been added to World
History. We are proud to have
shared our part along with the
thousands of other A. and M. men
in accomplishments during this
period.
Some are still in uniform, while
many others of us are back in
civilian life. Our other classmates
are wondering where we are and
what we are doing. As time goes
on you will be asked to write a
letter for the Class Column to
tell us about yourself and others
that you see.
As for me, I am back in civilian
clothes and have been for one year
today. After three and one-half
years with the 45th Inf. Div. I am
willing to keep my “civvies” for
a while, too. When the Army
“stretch” was over I attended a
Refresher Course here for two
months and then went to work
again for the Extension Service
of Texas A. & M. College. My
work is in the 4-H Club Depart-
ment and I enjoy it. There are
nearly 102,000 4-H boys and girls
in Texas so there is always plenty
for me to do. The County Ex-
tension Agents keep everything
lined up, including me, so all is
well.
Of more interest, is some of the
’87’ers living in this vicinity, and
there are many. Here in the Ex-
tension Service are Jimmy Davis,
Eddy Grist, Cy Heaton and Me-
Haney. I wouldn’t attempt to
name all that are here on the cam-
pus, for many I have not had a
chance to see. I see Charlie De-
Ware, assistant football coach and
head mentor of the “B” squad,
frequently. Charlie has a good
team and is doing a swell job.
Just yesterday received a note
from Joe Collerain, whose address
is Humble Pipe Line Company,
