Giesenschlag, Lyons, Texas, expects to be in school in the fall. Lt. Ben B. Isbell, Jr., son of Mr. B. B. Isbell, Collierville, has been reported missing since June 1, when the C-54 transport .in .which _he .was flying, crashed into the sea just off the Italian coast. The plane, carrying American servicemen back to the United States caught fire in flight... Of the 38 men aboard, only 8 were rescued by the fishing ..boats ..which .rushed .to ..the scene of the accident... Lt. Isbell re- ceived his commission in 1943. While being stationed in Calicutta he was Transportation Officer on the vital Ledo Road in Burma and India. First Sgt. Charles L. Borchers, Yoakum, Texas, was recently awarded the Army Commendation Ribbon for his outstand- ing work from December 1945 to April 1946 when he was First Sgt. of the 649th Ord. Fred Gordon Buckner, ’46 of Nacogdoches was reported missing in ac- tion in October 12, 1944 and was pre- sumed dead by the War Department a year later. He was reported missing while piloting a P-51 (Mustang Fighter) from France to England. He was with the 354th Flight Group of the Ninth Air Force and up to this time no trace of him nor of his plane has been found. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. B. NX. Lid Houston Club Meets Coach Homer Norton gave the Houston. A&M Club a preview of the coming football season, at the club’s first night meeting of the year which was held at the City Library on the evening of July 22nd. Other speakers included R. McQuil- len, ’20, Pecos County Barbecue Pecos County Aggies and their families enjoyed a barbecue given by Farris Baker, ’24, President of Adams, ’23, George C. Reeve, ’38, Jerry Puckett, 46, Pat Byrne, 26, Clayton Williams, ’15, and W. T. Posey, ’33. Brazos County Club The Brazos County A&M Club held its annual summer barbecue at the Fin Feather Club near Bryan on the evening of July 17. Barbecue and all the trimmings were served to 175 members and guests, W. N. “Flop” Colson, 40, was chairman of the barbecue com- mittee. The club voted to have a “wat- ermelon cutting” at its August meeting. Detroit Club Picnic Members of the Detroit A&M Club enjoyed a picnic on June 29th at Elizabeth Island Park, Tren- ton, Michigan. Members of the Club proved to be good foragers, in the Texas tradition; their menu was comprised of ice cold watermel- on, fried chicken, homemade cake and pies. Feature of the afternoon was a baseball game in which Walt Mos- teller, ’23 and Andy B. Cothran, ’16 starred. President of the Detroit Club is Dr. H. O. von Rosenberg, ’20.
