Lt. Col. John H. Crump is back
in the ranks of Mister and was a
recent campus visitor for the
Homecoming and the Petroleum
Short Course. He was released in
February after five and half years
of active duty—three and half
years were spent in the ETO, most-
ly in the 8th Air Force and in the
Airborne. Army. He is now with
the Commonwealth Gas Corp. of
New York City as geologist and
land man for the southern states.
He is living at Monroe, La. He
gets his mail at Box 45 of that
city. He was married last Novem-
ber to Miss Elaine Carmachael, of
‘Muncie, Indiana. Prior to going
on active duty he was with the
«Chase National Bank.

Prairie Chamber of Commerce.
Before entering the service, Major
Young taught vocational agricul-
ture in the Grand Prairie High
School. He participated in attacks
on the Siegfried Line and later
served with the military govern-
ment detail in agriculture rehabil-
itation work in the Saarland dis-
trict. Major Young also took his
Master’s at the College in 1940.
Robert B. Tate is County Agent
with headquarters at the Court
House, San Antonio. His two as-
sistant Agents are Harold Shahan,
’41, and Alton E. White, ’42. Tate
retired with the rank of Major. . .
. Capt. F. R. Bennett is with the
Chemical Section, Utah ASF De-
pot, Ogden, Utah.
Lt. Col. Gilbert A. Youngs now
on terminal leave at his home in
Atlanta, Texas, has been awarded
the Legion of Merit for his per-
formances in the design and con-
struction of airfields in China. Col.
Youngs has a total of over thir-
teen years in the service and has
completed 45 months of active
duty which included the direction
of construction of Bryan Army
Airfield, Bryan, Texas, and two
years of service in China where he
designed and supervised the con-
struction of many of the “Fly-
ing Tiger” bases.

Robert A. Harling is with the

H. A. Fitzhugh, formerly Coun-
ty Agent at San Antonio, has
resigned to become Manager of the
Joe Straus and Sons ranching
properties near San Antonio. Most
recent addition to their property
came through the purchase of the
well-known herd and ranch of W.
T. Montgomrey, eight miles north
of San Antonio. The Montgomery
Hereford herd is one of the finest
in the Southwest. Fitzhugh achiev-
ed fame for his work with Boys’
Club members while serving as
County Agent at Menard and other
counties. His club boys were par-
ticularly successful in feeding and
showing Hereford steers.
Donald C. Glass has been re-
leased from service with the rank
of Major and is working for the
Humble Oil and Refining Co. He
and his wife have purchased a
home in Houston and with their
young daughter, born Feb. 19, are
living at 2331 Southgate, Houston.
Donald has worked for the Hum-
ble Company as a Petroleum En-
gineer since graduation with the
exception of his three and half
year tour of duty with the army.
He is now doing engineering work
on the selection of oil well drilling
equipment. Charles Seaman is also
with the Humble engineering staff
in Houston, according to Donald.
Emmett W. Dobbs is living on

George E. Roesner has been
named Director of the newly es-
tablished Farm and Ranch Depart-
ment of Radio Station KTRH,
Houston, and agriculture will be-
come an important phase of that
station’s program operations, ac-
cording to an announcement made
recently by the general manager
of the station.
Roesner was a distinguished
student while attending A. & M.,
served as President of the Poultry
and Egg Club, and was high point
winner on the A. & M. Poultry
Judging team in production judg-
ing at the Chicago International
Poultry Judging Contest in 1934.
He was also a member of the A.
& M. team which won international
first place in both production and
market judging. For several years].
following graduation from A. & M.,
he taught vocational agricultural
at Riesel, Texas, and is currently
associated with the Uncle Johnny
Feed Mills as Poultry and livestock
specialist.

basketball and baseball star is

the best-known basketball officials
in high school circles last winter.
Paul Victor Norman, infant son
of Capt. and Mrs. Clyde T. Nor-
man, 122 So. Waverly St., Dallas,
died in Dallas on April 28. In ad-
dition to his parents he is survived
by an older brother. He was named
for Vietor M. Wallace, ’38, and
the late Paul Wofford, ’39, school-
mates of Clyde.

0. G. Hudson recently reported
to Class Agent John Bone that for
the past few years he had been
working in the Research Depart-
ment of Republic Steel Corp. in
Youngstown, Ohio, working on a
number of projects, mostly de-
signed to increase the quality and
quantity of steel and steel pro-

Rogers, Jr., had been transferred
from his post as denazification of-
ficer of General Mark Clark’s Head-
quarters in Vienna, to Le Havre,
France, to be redeployed to the
United States. Capt. Rogers served
in combat with the 407th F.A.
Group and wears two battle parti-
cipation stars on his ETO ribbon,
the American Defense and Amer-
ican Theater Ribbon. Before enter-
ing the Army in December 1940, he
was employed by the Austin Road
Company in Dallas.

Texas won the track title in a close
meet last week-end at Kyle Field. No
new records were set. Johnnie Ziegler of
the Aggies was the only double winner,
taking the one and the two mile events.

lor 22, Rice 20, Arkansas 17, S. M. U. 12,
T. C. U. 4. The undefeated Aggie mile re-
lay team won the afternoon’s feature event.
