«central figure in the surender of 20,000
Germans in Central France. He was in
command of the fighter-bombers of the
XIX Air Command and was cited and com-
mended by General Patton. He is an Air
Force veteran and a younger brother of

continuing in the professional practice of
Landscape Architecture, at 924 Jefferson

supervision of such projects, Hugh prev-
iously practiced at Greensboro but for the
past two years has been engaged in land-
scape work in connection with war plants
and construction of various wer plants
in the deep South.

LT. COL. C. C. WILSON was recently
promoted to that rank. He is on duty at
the Salinas A. A. B., Salinas, Calif,
where he is Director of Supply and Main-
tenance. Col. Wilson reports that three-
fourths of all military and civilian per-
sonnel at the Base are under his depart-
ment.
C. B. SPENCER, Assistant State Con-
servationist of the Soil Conservation Serv-
ice, has been appointed agricultural direc-
tor of the Texas Cottonseed Crushers As-
sociatioa, effective January 1, His head-
quarters will be in Dallas, where he will
work in close harmony with the educational
program of the National Cottonseed Pro-
ducts Association directed by A. L. Ward,
’10. A native of Marlin, Spencer made an
outstanding record teaching vocational agr-i
culture, then went with the Tyler Cham-
ber of Commerce as agricultural director
before going into the Soil Conservation
Service. He is a member of the Board
of Directors of the Texas Agricultural
Workers Association.

Class Agent and Class President JACK
WILLIAMS recently resigned as County
Agent at San Marcos to become associated
with the National Cotton Council of Amer-
ican in the Field Service Division. His
present headquarters will continue to be
at San Marcos, P. O. Box 196. He will
be in Texas for some time and after that
expects to. do work in other cotton states.
His work comes under four major items:
research - (new uses of cotton); process-
ing, production, and marketing of cotton;
sales promotion; and public relations. He
is enthusiastic over his new work and his

awarded the Bronze Star for engineering

LT. COMDR. LT. H. “HOWDY” RID-
OUT, JR., USN, has been transferred from

standing piece of work as Oficer in Charge
of the Dallas Navy Recruiting Station. He
was Division Manager for a big motor
company when he entered the service.
CLIFFORD N. KORNEGAY was a re-
cent visitor on the campus. He makes his

The Amend brothers, JAMES D., ’27,
and SCOTT, ’28, both recently released from
the U, S. Army, are growing wheat in
the Texas Panhandle at Stratford.

listed as “incorrect” since 1942. His ad-

LT. COL. GUS SCHATTENBERG is in
Ward B-17, Harmon General Hospital,
Longview, Texas. He writes that it was
good to come home even on a stretcher.
He had one of his legs injured in France
but has recently had the cast removed
and expects to be walking in another two
months. He went to France with the First
Division Hars. as Deputy Provost Mar-
shall and had charge of moving all prison-
ers from France to England by water. “It
was the only group of people that large
I ever saw where I didn’t find an A. &
M. man.” Gus hopes to see one of the
football gemes this fall and would like
to hear frcm some of his friends.

JULE D. OAKES asks to be put in the
’28 class even though he got his degree in
’29. He started out with the ’28’ers, but
had to stay out a year to recoup his fi-
nances before getting his degree. He is
director of athletics of the Houston Public
Schools and has three young Aggies in his

’98, Houston, is a District Engineer of the
Burma Road’s 3rd District in Southwest
China. He has high prase for the Chinese
engineers with whom he works as well
as the thousands of Chinese laborers who
have performed so well on building and
maintaining the road. Capt. Smith was
with Lockwood and Andrews, design
and struction engineers, before entering
military service.

PFC. CHARLES H. YOUNG is now at
Camp Bowie, Texas, having just finished
his basic training. He is in the Combat En-
grs. and was a member of the Texas
Legislature before volunteering for the
Army. His address was reported by WM.

FREDERICK RA CONRAD resides at
3223 Georgtown, Houston, Texas. He re-
cently reported the address of CAPT. GEO.
H. GAITHER, ’85, who is serving in
Italy.
News has just been received in the As-
sociation Office of two awards earned by
LT. COL. OLIN E. “TIGER” TEAGUE.
Lt. Col. Teague has been in the thick of
activities since the French invasion. On
the 24th of July, 1944, he was awarded
the Silver Star for gallantry in action as
battalion commander in France. He was
slightly wounded in the action for which
he received this award. He was awarded
ust 4, 1944, for action against the enemy
on July 8. Mrs. Teague and their two
sons make their home at 3307 College Road,
Bryan, Texas. Before entering the serv-
ice Lt. Col, Teague was with the U. S.
Post Office at College Station.
CARL D. HALL has been employed in

C. D. “Babe” Watts, ’26, recently
elected president of the Corpus
Christi A. & M. Club, is Sales Rep-
resentative for the Texas Employ-
ers’ Insurance Association in Cor-
pus and the Gulf Coast area. He
has been with that company for
the past ten years, moving to Cor-
pus Christi from Houston. He and
Mrs. Watts have two children, a
future Aggie, 12, and a co-ed, 5.
They recently purchased a home in
Corpus Christi. Watt’s office is
506-8 Nixon Bldg. Watts is well
experienced in A. & M. Club work,
being a past president of the Hous-
ton A. & M. Club. He was all-|C
conference center on the champion-
ship Aggie football team of 1925.

visitor this fall from St. Louis, Mo., where
he is with the Dr. LeGear Medicine Co.,

est manufacturers of livestock, poultry,
and dog medicinal prescriptions. Dr. Le-
Gear is married and has two children, a
sen and a daughter. He is an active mem-
ber of the St. Louis A. & M. Club. His
