LT. THOMAS G. ATLEE, JR., has just
returned from England and is stationed
at Camp Murphy, Florida. Mrs. Atlee is

Bowie, Texas, was recently awarded the
Air Medal and Purple Heart for action
as a Liberator pilot in a raid over Ger-
many. In a running fight, his plane was
attacked by 30 enemy craft, and his crew
was credited with downing 7 of them. His

Lt. Col. Henry
Lt. Col. Henry Pelly Dittman was recent-
ly promoted to that rank at the Herington,
Kans., Army Air Base. He is C. O. of the
base’s processing headquarters. Located
in the Philippines at the time of the
Jap attack, he was cited for outstanding
performances during the Philippine and
later campaigns. He was returned to the
States in May ’41. During his cadet days
at A. & M., he was a member of the
football team and Captain of the track
team. Col. and Mrs. Dittman have one
son. The Public Relations Office of his
Air Base calls him “Little Henry,” but
it’s a safe bet that when he reaches A. &
M., he will be “Little Pelly.”
LT. ROBERT L. DOSS, Whitewright,
Texas, who has been on maneuvers in
Tennessee, is temporarily a patient in
Camp Forrest, Tennessee hospital, awaiting
removal to a general hospital for special
treatment of a current illness. Friends
can write him at Box 61, Whitewright.
MAJOR LUTHER E. JOHNSON is in
the Department of Electricity, U. S. Mili-
tary Academy, West Point, N. Y.
LT. J. S. MORRIS is located at Cor-
pus Christi, Texas, where he receives his

— not only was it his birthday but another
daughter was born to him and Mrs.

that at the present he and CAPT. GLENN
H. REYNOLDS, ’41, are the only Aggies
at his post. He also made a belated report
of his marriage on Nov. 8, 1941.
LT. DICK TODD attached to the U. S.
Navy Pre-flight School, University of
Jowa, suffered a broken jaw in the tight
lowa Pre-flight and Notre Dame football
game. Before his injury Todd turned in
an amazing game. The Crowell flash
has been a great football player in what-
ever league he played; Crowell highschool,
Texas A. & M., Washington Red Skins,
‘and Iowa Pre-flight.
LT. RICHARD R. WHITE was a recent
visitor in the Association Office, having
just returned from 20 months in the South
Pacific. He flew from the Figi Islands,
and will be sent to Santa Ana, Calif., for

A. “BILL” ORTH is stationed at Camp
Tyson, Tennessee. He reports Major A. B.
Stevens, formerly with the Petroleum
Eng. Dept., at College, as being Commander
of one of the training units there.
WADE W. WHITE has been promoted
to Captain at the CAAF, Bomb. Hdaq.,

with an Airdrome Sadn. at the A. A. B.,

CAPT. BRANDON C. SMITH, Electra,
has returned to the United States after
over 300 hours of combat duty, mostly in
the Middle East. He is now stationed at
Boise, Idaho, 1114 Pueblo. He reports his
mariage last May to Ann Barron of
Hartford, Conn. He is now an instructor
pilot and engineering officer for the B-24
School, Mount Home, Idaho. A brother,
LT. TRAVIS J. SMITH, is a Japanese
prisoner of war, captured in Java. Another
brother, LT. G. ELMO SMITH, is a pilot
at the Pyote AAB, 19th Bomb Gp., and
two otaher brothers are in the Navy.
Captain Brandon Smith reports seeing
Aggies all over the Middle East, and sends
regards to his A. & M. friends.
CAPT. ARCHIE M. MCFARLAND has
been promoted to the rank of Major at
the Carlsbad Army Air Field, Carlsbad,
N. M., where he is base materiel officer.

LT. JOHN T. DALE, is with a Depot

KIZER, Dallas who began flight training
at Cal-Aero, Calif., in Feb., ’41, received
his wings and commission at Stockton
Field, Calif., and, before going overseas
in Sept. ’42, was in training and maneu-
vers with airborne trcops, was based at
McClelland Field, Calif., Battle Creek,
Mich., ard Camp Benning, Ga. In North
Africa and later in Sicily, he was awarded
the Air Medal and Oak Leaf Clusters, re-
spectively, earned by glider-towing opera-
tions wit ha troop carrier group. His du-
ties at present consist of flying supplies
to the army in Italy and bringing back
wounded men to base hospitals, and he
has more than 800 operational hours to

MARION COX, son of Mr. and Mrs. D.
V. Cox of Garrett, Texas, is at the Let-
terman General Hospital in San Francis-
co and his condition is improving. He re-
ceived shrapnel wounds in his right arm
a broken right leg and foot, and other in-
juries in New Guinea last August. He went
overseas as a sergeant in the Quarter-

Capt. Robert A. Henderson, Eastland,

LT. QUENTIN S. BULLOCK has been
flying on an Air Transport Command
route since March, but has seen few

The War Department has just recently
announced the promotion of AUSTIN
ALBERT LUCKENBACH to CAPTAIN.
A. W. CLAY, JR., has recently been
promoted to Lt. (jg) and is stationed at
the U. S. Naval Training Station, Great
Lakes, Ill.
ALVIN W. COWLES was given a med-
ical discharge several months ago from
the army and is now with the Accounting
Dept. of the Federal Reserve Bank in
San Antonio. His mailing address is 908

SECOND LT. HOWARD A. DAVIS is
a prisoner of the German government,
according to a message received by his
mother, Mrs. R. L. Davis, of Houston.
At the time he entered the service, in
December, 1941, he was associated with the
Texas Employment Service, at Bryan,
Texas. He was a co-pilot of a Flying
Fortress and had been serving overseas
since August.

a recent visitor after returning from an
extended period of service in the S. W.
Pacific. He is in the U. S. Marine Corps

CAPT. ROY W. GILLETTE is now at
the Univ. of Maine, Orono, Maine, after
having spent 23 months in the South Pa-
cific. Immediately upon his return to the
states, he was first sent to Camp Davis,
N. C., thence to the Univ. of Maine, to
instruct ROTC. He reports LT. L. H.
CONNEVELY, ’42, being up there with
him.

MAJOR RAYMOND P. KETELSON,
Houston, is commander of a Flying Fort-
ress sqdn. of th Eighth Air Force some-
where in England. Recently his squadron
adopted a small orphaned English child,
and named a Fortress in her honor, Gloria
Diane. Funds have been provided to care
for Gloria for the next five years. Mrs.

Publicity Relations Officer, 95th Infantry
