fine A. & M. football team and its
coaches. Champion of the tough
Southwestern Conference, Number
one team of the Nation, undefeat-
ed for the season and certain to
play in a major Bowl game, the
1939 Aggie team has covered it-
self, its coaches and its institu-
tion with glory. All Texas is
proud of the Aggies and the eyes
of the Nation are upon them and
upon Texas A. & M.
The season has been a personal
triumph and vindication of Head
Coach Homer Norton and every
member of the coaching staff.
To both coaches and players, to
reserves and scrubs as well as to
regulars, to freshmen and to the
seniors, to the business office and
to the plant maintenance force, to
every member of the Athletic
staff and to every player, the AG-
GIE says, “Well Done!”
John A. Stansell, ’39, is living at
320 Branard, Houston, Texas.
Stansell is in the Transit Depart-
ment of the San Jacinto National
Bank, Houston, and writes that he
likes his work very much.
Joe M. Alexander, ’39, is living
at Damon, Texas, where he is work-
ing for John R. Bunn, an oil well
drilling contractor.
Ed M. Fontaine, ’28, was a
Thanksgiving visitor. Fontaine is
sales engineer for the National
Tank Company, 3511 McKinney
Avenue, Houston, and reports that
he is getting along fine.
J. Wm. Oliphint, ’03, recently
sent in Association dues. Mr.
Oliphint is with Gibbs Brothers
& Company, investments, Hunts-
ville.
Stanley C. Stribling, ’39, is in
partnership with his father, John
B. Stribling, Route 2, Rotan, Texas.
The Striblings are breeders of fine

Jack Pines, ’38, writes that he
is now permanently located at 801
North College, Tyler, Texas.
Chester A. Biggers, 14, is resid-
ing at 900 E. Silver, Apartment 7,
Albuquerque, New Mexico. “Chet”
is with the Bureau of Agricultural
Economics working on Flood Cou-
trol Surveys. Bigger’s home is at
Bonham, Texas. Several years
ago he was connected with the
association in the capacity of field
secretary for a few months.
T. M. Maxwell, ’32, recently
sends in his dues for the Associa-
tion. Maxwell is still with the
Stanolind Oil and Gas Company
and is at the present time super-
vising operations in the Katy Field,
near Katy.

Mr. and Mrs. Russell G. White,

tonio, where Russell is County

dent of the San Antonio A. & JM.
Club.
Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Matthes, ’21,
are the proud parents of a little
daughter, Mary Ann, born on Oc-
tober 26 at the St. Therese Hospi-
tal, Beaumont. Mr. and Mrs.
Matthes reside at 2236 North,
where Louis is resident agent for
the General Electric Company.
Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Shafer, ’29,
are delighted over the birth of a
fine son, Charles Edward, born on
October 27 in Beaumont. Mr. and
Mrs. Shafer reside at 1134 Avenue
B, Beaumont, where Russell is with
the Sun Oil Company.
Mr. and Mrs. Wallis H. Airhart,
37, are receiving congratulations
from their many friends over the
arrival of a son, Tom Patterson,
on November 16, 1939. Wallis and
Mrs. Airhart make their home at
Baird, Texas, where Wallis is ad-
ministrative assistant for the AAA.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry H. Weir,
’13, announce the birth of a little
daughter, Lillie Louise, on No-
vember 8, 1939. Mr. and Mrs. Weir
are located in San Antonio, where
Henry is owner and manager of a
dairy farm. Their mailing ad-
dress is Route, 2, Box 68, San An-
tonio.
Mr. and Mrs. C. D. “Babe” Watts,
’26, are rejoicing over the arrival
of a baby girl, born November 15,
at a Houston hospital. Mr. and
Mrs. Watts have a little boy.
“Babe” is safety enginer for the
Texas Employers Insurance Asso-
ciation, 904 Sterling Building
Houtson, and he and Mrs. Watts
make their home at 2630 Kings-
ton of that city.
Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Staples, ’30,
are the happy parents of a baby
daughter born recently at St. Jos-
ephs hospital, Bryan, where they
make their home. Staples is with
the Brazos County Health Unit,
Bryan, as a sanitary engineer.
Mr. and Mrs. William E. Fiiz-
Gerald, ’35, are receiving congrat-
ulations from their many friends
over the birth of little Patricia,
born on November 7. Mr. and Mrs.
FitzGerald make their home in
Shreveport, Louisiana, where “Wil-
lie” is associated with tle Fitz-
Gerald Plumbing and Heating
Company, Inec., of that city.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Gross, ’21,
are the proud parents of a fine
son, Laurence Jay, born on Octo-
ber 8, 1939. Mr. and Mrs. Gross
reside at 3845 5th Street, Port
Arthur, where he is with the Gulf
Oil Corporation.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry de Ponta
Bone, 25%, are delighted over the
arrival of Harry de Ponta Bone
Jr., on October 9. Mr. and Mrs.
Bone are living at Mt. Pleasant,
Texas, where Harry is camp su-
rperintendent of the SCS at Mt.
Pleasant.
Mr. and Mrs. Richard D. Hatch
’33, announce the birth of a fine
son, Richard David Hatch, III. Mr.
and Mrs. Hatch make their home
at Coahoma, Texas, where Hatch
is with the Illinois Oil Company.
Mr. and Mrs. Walter J. Faulk
’32, are mighty happy over the
birth of a little daughter, Mary
Josephine, born on September 10.
They make their home at 1400 East
Main Street, Gatesville, where
Faulk is commanding officer for
the CCC.
Lee E. Cook, 20, who has been
supervisor of distribution for the
Texas Power and Light Company,
Dallas, is now with the Ebasco
Services, Inc., 2 Rector Street, New
York City, N. Y. His residence is
34 Magnolia Avenue, Terafly, New
Jersey.

Knox Lee, Jr. ’39 has accepted
a position as student engineer in
the Erie, Pennsylvania Works of
the General Electric Company. He
is residing at 3808 Main Street, L.
P.,, Erie. Lee is the son of Knox
Lee, ’08, vice president of the
Southwest Gas and Electric Com-
pany, Marshall.
W. C. Fuller, ’36, is now located
with the Soil Conservation Service
at Berryville, Arkansas.
Joseph Avant, ’31 is living at
1333% Chambers St., Vicksburg,
Mississippi. Avant is employed by
the U. S. Engineers, Vicksburg
District, as junior engineer on
structural design. He likes his
work very much.
Charles N. Flinn, ’01, gets his
mail at P. O. Box 281, Lakeside,
California. :
Henry A. Eddins, ’31, was recent-
ly made manager of the Citizens
Gas Company with headquarters at
12 South Seventh Street, Strouds-
burg, Pennsylvania. This company
is a Stone & Webster supervised
company, so Eddins is still with
Stone & Webster, but has received
a transfer and promotion. Eddins
was president of the New York
City A. & M. Club at the time
he left New York. Eddins reports
that he is living in a beautiful
country and is more than pleased
with the showing of the A. & M.
football team this year.
H. W. Stern, ’38, asks that his
AGGIE be sent to Box 257, Hous-
ton. Stern is in the accounting
department of the W. H. Norris
Lumber Company, Houston.
John O’Callagham, ’24, was re-
cently transferred from New Or-
leans, La. to Nazareth, Pennsyl-
vania, where he is still with the
Lone Star Cement Corporation.
W. S. McGregor, Jr. ’38 is
raching with Pat Martin at Chris-
toval, Texas. As a student at A.
& M., “Mac” was employed at the
College Hospital, where he spent
most of his spare hours.
Augustus J. Allen, ’39, is a fly-
ing cadet with the U. S. Air Corps,
Randolph Field, Texas. As a cadet
at A. & M., Allen was a member
of the famous varsity swimming
team.
Sam E. Rosenberg, ’36, has been
transferred as assistant county
agricultural agent from Eastland
County to Mills County as county
agricultural agent, where his head-
quarters will be Goldthwaite, Tex-
as.

Miss Louise Maloy, of Portland,
Oregon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs
Frank S. Maloy, Cleburne, and Dr.
ichard A. Self, 27, of Dallas,
were recently married in Denver.
Colorado. After a short wedding
trip, Dr. and Mrs. Self are making
their home at Cliff Towers, Dal-
las. Self is owner of the Dog
and Cat Hospital, Dallas.

The wedding of Miss Ferol Cox,
daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs.
L. W. Cox of Henrietta, and Joe
F. Krizek, ’36, son of Mr. and Mrs.
John Krizek of Port Lavaca, re-

Joe is an agricultural angineer for

Charley Manning, ’38, has re-
cently moved to Corpus Christi,
where he is half owner of The
Certified Tire Store. Manning was
formerly located at Austin, where
he was employed by The Firestone
Tire & Rubber Company.
C. F. Dibrell, ’38, gets his mail
at P. O. Box 87, Swolle, Louisiana.
Marshall F. Stiles, Jr., ’36, re-
cently started working for the Pan
American Production Company of
Houston, as Junior Production En-
gineer. At the present time, he is
located at Franklin, Louisiana.
Stiles states he will be glad to see
any of his friends who are passing
his way.
J. H. Flood, ’32, is living at 702
No. Grande Avenue, Gainesville.
Wm. G. Yates, ’39, is with the
J. A. Phillips Company, 412 Capps
Building, Fort Worth.
Thelston B. Carroll, ’39, is teach-
ing vocational agriculture at Era,
Texas.
John T. Lofton, ’39, is assistant
to the night superintendent of the
Bonham Mills. His residence ad-
dress is 620 West 8th Street of
that city. As a student at A. & M,,
Lofton was known to his friends
as “Chick”, was a distinguished
student, and took part in many
other college activities.
Newt R. Watkins, Jr. ’39, is
teaching vocational agriculture at
the Waelder High School, Waelder,
Texas.
E. Gordon Harris, 28, is civil
engineer for the City of Victoria,
where he gets his mail at P. O.
Box 83.
Jack H. Gill, ’30, is a mechanical
engineer with the Caterpillar Trac-
tor Company at Peoria, Illinois. His
residence address is 222 North 9th
Street, Mt. Vernon, Illinois.
T. V. Stephens, ’30, gets his mail
at P. 0. Box 325, Schulenburg,
Texas. Stephens was formerly with
the Stanolind Oil and Gas Com-
pany of Houston.
Bill Rector, ’38, has been appoint-
ed assistant county agent for the
A. & M. Extension Service and is
located at Vernon, Texas. Bill was
formerly with the AAA in Throck-
morton and Baylor Counties and
reports that he likes his work at
Vernon very much.
C. G. Haynes, ’34, is with the
Magnolia Oil Company and at the
present time gets his mail at Box
213, New Philadelphia, Ohio. Hay-
nes is on the move a great deal and
expects to be located at this ad-
dress only a short time. He can
always be reached at Fluvanna,
Texas.
Charles Buckman, ’89, is living
at 242 West High Avenue, San
Antonio, and at the present time
is quite ill. As a student at A. &
M., Mr. Buckman was known as
“Louie” to his classmates and was
a charter member of the Ross
Volunteers. He is the grandfather
of Mrs. Johnny R. Joseph, ’38, of
Austin.
Carl B. Mueller, 38, is with the
Works Progress Administration
and at the present time is project
superintendent and timekeeper
for the Ground Water Survey
Project at Austin. He gets his mail
at P. O. Box 273.
Fritz W. Mogford, ’18 is farm-
ing at Snyder, Texas. Mogford is
a brother of J. S. Mogford, ‘16,
professor of agronomy at the A.
& M. College.
J. L. Bates, ’19, writes to send
his TEXAS AGGIE to 201 South
Moody Street, Victoria, Texas.
Bates was formerly in Cuero, with
the Central Power and Light Com-
pany.
Clarence J. Schier, ’38, gets his
mail at Box 445, Sealey, where he
is in the wholesale flour and feed
business.
R. E. Baird, ’39, is in the Engi-
neering Department of Wyatt
Metal & Boiler Works of Houston
and he is living at 1726 Marshall
Street of that city.
Dr. Drue S. Ward, ’39, is now
permanently located at Brownwood,
Texas, where he is practicing vet-
erinary medicine. He gets his mail
at Box 373.
J. H. Shows, ’36, has been trans-
ferred from Brownwood County to
Cottle County, where he is admin-
istrative assistant for the AAA.
His headquarters are at Paducah,
Texas.
Ernest J. Botard, ’39, has been
appointed as assistant county agri-
cultural agent by the A. & M. Ex-
tension Service, where his head-
quarters will be at San Benito,
Texas.
Marcus H. Muller, 25, took over
Co. 2877 CCC, New Waverly, Tex-
as, from Harry O. Fischer, 29,
on November 5. Muller stated
that the camp at New Waverly is
a new one and there is so much
work to do that he was not able
to attend the Thanksgiving Game.
Lynn L. Byrd, ’34, has been ap-
pointed assistant county agent for
the A. & M. Extension Service and
will be located in McLennan Coun-
ty, with headquarters at Waco.
James R. Story, ’39, returned to
A. & M. this year, where he is
taking graduate work in the Mu-
nicipal and Sanitary Engineering.
LeRoy W. Edwards, ’39, has ac-
cepted a position with the Bureau
of Entomology and Plant Quaran-
tine in the Pink Boll Worm Divi-
sion.
Earlie B. Needham, ’30, recent-
ly received his license as a profes-
sional engineer and will practice
as a professional engineer at Cole-
man, Texas.
Carlos Ordonez, ’28, is with the
Standard Oil Company at Caracas,
Venezuela, S. A., and his address is
Apartado No. 889.
Edgar E. Baumann, ’39, is prin-
cipal of the Meyersdale School at
Yorktown, Texas. He gets his
mail at Route 4, Box 84, Yorktown.
As a student at A. & M. Baumann
was a member of the Scholarship
Honor Society and active in other
student affairs.
WwW. H. “Bill” Atkinson, ’39,
writes to send his TEXAS AGGIE
to Box 22, Canton, Texas, where
he has charge of the Roden Con-
trol Department in Van Zandt
County.
Chester R. Cloudt, ’38, is with
the Texas Company and at the
present time is located at New
Iberia, Louisiana, where he gets
his mail at P. O. Box 457.

“Dick”, ’30, Conner, sons of A. B.
Conner, ’04, are practicing law
with L. M. Rice, prominent at-
torney in the Tower Petroleum
Building, Dallas. After taking
their pre-law work at A. & M,
they attended Texas University and
later studied in law offices in Dal-
las.
Raymond L. Gregg, ’39, and
Charles D. Trail, ’39, recently ac-
cepted positions with the Soil Con-
servation Service at Temple.
