Conferred Degree For
Outstanding Work in EE
A. & M. honored Marvin Smith,
class of ’15, by conferring upon
him the professional degree of
Electrical Engineering at a testi-
monial dinner held on the night of
Dec. 8 in Sbhisa Hall. Smith is man-
ager of engineering, Westinghouse
Electric & Manufacturing Co.
Pittsburgh, Pa.
Smith was born and educated
through high school at Overton and
entered the study of electrical en-
gineering at A. & M., graduating
as valedictorian of his class with
the degree of Bachelor of Science.
Immediately after his graduation
from college he entered the em-
ploy of the Westinghouse Com-
pany as student engineer and his
association with that company has
been continuous.
His first work for Westinghouse
was in generator engineering op-
erations, first as a design engineer
and later as section engineer. Later
he was promoted to engineer in
charge of design of the larger al-
ternating current machines of the
generation division. His next ad-
vancement was to the position he
now holds in change of all en-
gineering activities of the com-
pany.
Conferring of the professional
degree came as a surprise at the
banquet which had been planned
only to honor a successful ex-stu-
dent of the college. Dean Bolton,
C. C. Hudspeth, ’15, of Ft. Worth,
E. C. Rack, ’15, of New York and

“War Hymn”
New words to “Aggie War Hymn,” A. & M. number
one song, have been written by “Pinky” Wilson of Florence,
Texas, who wrote the song’s first verson in the trenches in
France. He has high hopes
that Aggies will adopt them
for use at intercollegiate games against all schools except
the University of Texas, when the “Goodyby to Texas”
words can be used.
The new words follow:
Hull-a-bal-00! Can-eck! Can-eck!
Hull-a-bal-o0! Can-eck! Can-eck!
All hail to dear old Texas A. & M.
Rally around Maroon and White;
Good luck to the dear old Texas Aggies,
They are the boys who show the real old fight.
That good old Aggie spirit thrills us,
And makes us yell and yell and yell—yell like hell,
So let’s fight for dear old
Texas A. & M.,
We're going to bear you all to Chig-gar-roo-gar-rem!
Chig-gar-roo-gar-rem! Rough! Tough! Real stuff! Texas
A. & M.
