D. MARBURGER TAKES OVER COLLEGE UTILITIES B. D. Marburger, former professor of railway engineering at the College assumed the duties of superintendent of the department of buildings and college utilities on February 1, suec- ceeding W. W. Kraft who has re- signed. The position of superintendent of buildings and College utilities at the A. and M. College is a big job. The superintendent of this de- partment has under his supervision the administration, upkeep and repair of all the College buildings, the power plant, laundry, sewage disposal plant, water system, heating system, light- ing system, construction of new buildings, paving of new streets and sidewalks, repair of streets and side- walks and countless other jobs too numerous to mention. Measured in terms of dollars, the man in this position is responsible for the proper functioning and the maintenance and repair of buildings valued at three million and five hundred thousand dol- lars, and the supervision of annual expenditures amounting to more than a half million dollars. Mr. Marburger is a graduate of the College from the department of civil engineering in 1905. He imnediate- ly became connected with the Sunset Central Railway Lines and served as | foreman and roadmaster. From 1512 | to 1914 he was assistant division en- | gineer Gulf Coast Lines; in 1914 to 11916 he was roadmaster on the S. | A. A. P. lines, in 1916-17 he was as- | sistant division engineer of the M. |K. & T. lines and in 1917-20 was | division engineer of the same lines, | and from 1920 to 1925 he served as | professor of railway engineering at the A .and M. College. While con- | nected with the various railroads he | had considerable ' experience in all | phases of construction work which | will prove valuable to him in the new | work here. Mr. Kraft is a graduate of: North- western University and came to the A. and M. College of Texas in 1917 | as head of the department of build- ings and college utilities. Under his | supervision more than 25 residence cottages have been constructed on the { Campus. During the World War he { had charge of the building of the | barracks here. He also has had charge | of the building of eight permanent | structures of concrete and stone, laid several miles of sidewalks and pav- ing and modified both the sewer and and the College heating system.
