RELAY CARNIVAL TO BE
STAGED HERE ON APRIL 30
What promises to be the greatest
assemblage of High School track and
field athletes at Kyle Field to par-
ticipate in the relay Carnival, which
is the first of its kind to be held at
the College, will open on April 30.
Relay events have become the most
popular form of track sport, and the
Aggies are giving the high schools
of the State a relay meet of their
own. The second day will see the
track and field meet, held as it is
every year.
All the events that pertain to a
big meet will be carried out, such as
the quarter mile, half mile and mile
relay of four men. Also there will be
a sprint medley relay, with distances
of 100 yards, 220 yards, 440 yards and |
880 yards and the mile distances.
Regular conference events are sche-
duled for the following day.
James Sullivan and the Athletic
Council are doing themselves proud in
the way of awards for the high school
winners. Beautiful gold medals will
go to the winners of each of the
relay races and gold, silver and
bronze medals will be awarded the
first three places in the track and
field meets on the following day.
Local entertainment will be given all
visiting contestants. Any high school
or prep school man, eligible under
the State Interscholastic regulations
can compete. Coach Frank Anderson
will have charge of the meet and all
arrangements.
