Following the selection of Director
T. O. Walton to be President of the
A. & M. College the Board of Direc-
tors immediately tendered the posi-
tion of Director of Agricultural Ex-
tension Service, made vacant by Presi-
dent Walton’s promotion, to C. H.
Alvord, county agricultural agent for
Bexar County at San Antonio. Mr.

Alvord accepted and has come back
to his old home at College Station. |
One of the most uniformly effective
and successful of all of the county |
agents, a practical ranchman and |
farmer of varied experience, and a |
former teacher in the school of agri-
culture at A. & M., Director Alvord
will make a magnificent contribution
to the development of the Extension
Service.
At San Antonio he has built up a
wide following and has done a magni-
ficient piece of work there.
His many friends at College and
among the former students of the in-

The United States Civil Service
Commssion announces the following
open competitive examination:
ASSOCIATE PARASITOLOGIST |
Receipt of applications for associate |
parasitologist will close October 20. |
The examination is to fill a vacancy |
in the Bureau of Animal Industry, |
Department of Agriculture, for duty |
at the Jeanerette Experiment Station,
Jeanerette, La., and vacancies in posi- |
tions requiring similar qualifications |
throughout the United States.
The entrance salary for this posi- |
tion is $3,000 a year. After the pro- |
bational period of six months re- |
quired by the civil service act and |
rules, advancement in pay may be |
made without change in assignment |
up to $3,600 a year. Promotion to |
higher grades may be made in ac-
cordance with the civil service rules.
The duties are to conduct-laboratory
and field investigations of parasites
of domestic animals and associated
diseases and experiments for their
control, and prepare results and con-
clusions of investgations with a view
to publication.
* Competitors will not be required to
report for examination at any place,
but will be rated on their education,
training, and experience; and an origi-
nal thesis or publications in connec-
tion with parasitology to be filed with
the application.

United States Civil Service Commis-
sion, Washington, D. C., or the secre-
tary of the Board of U. S. Civil ser-
vice examinors at the post office or
customhouse in any city.

Hall this evening, beginning at 7:30.
The cast includes such stars as Lois
Wilson, Warner Baxter, Wallace Beery
and Phyllis Haver. There will also
be a good comedy and music.
