February 23, 1925.
TO PATRONS OF THE F. & B. STATION DAIRY:
For some months past we have been endeavoring to
operate the F. & B. Station Dairy on such a basis that
milk and cream might be produced and sold to our patrons
without an increase in price. Feed prices, however, have
risen to unusual heights so that it is now impossible to
operate the Dairy on present prices without sustaining 2
loss.
Effective March 1, 1925, therefore, the following prices
will prevail:
Miki: PING sh sieseirrersarnsnmeses 10 cents
QUABEE + reereciosshssn i Ae 18 cents
TALON ociciosicanininsasssissnsiioraissntnr asus 60 cents
Cream. .... 1a: pint ii .ioiie coiive eins 25 cents
PIAL. oo icmininsateostie sisi sans sass snenmianss 45 cents
EE RR I Ra a | 85 cents
Since appropriations for the F. & B. Dairy have never
been adequate to meet the cost of scientific work, to say
nothing of the costs of practical operation, it has always
been necessary to operate this Dairy on a self-sustaining
basis.
The patrons, through their support, have contributed
toward the successful maintenance of the F. & B. Dairy,
and this support is very much appreciated by those in
charge. Patrons may rest assured that whenever the prices
of feed, and other costs, come down to a point where a
reduction in the price of products is justifiable, prices will
be lowered.
Patrons will recall that once before it was necessary to
increase prices of our products, but that as soon as a reduc-
tion was possible, it was made. i
We are very proud of the quality of our dairy products.
We are furnishing you with milk and cream which tests
5 per cent. butterfat, or better, all of which comes from
Jersey cows; no Holsteins in this herd. Our bacterial count,
according to the sanitary inspectors, has run consistently
low and our premises, buildings, and milk-rooms are con-
stantly kept in the strictest sanitary condition.
During the past year a new refrigeration plant has been
installed in connection with our milk rooms, so that milk is
aerated and reduced to 40 degrees F. immediately after
milking.
All bottles and vessels are steam-sterilized before using.
We are, therefore, furnishing you with the equivalent of
standard certified milk and cream at popular prices.
Again thanking you for your encouragement, support,
and patronage, and inviting you to inspect our plant frora
time to time, we are
Very truly yours,
F. & B. STATION DAIRY.
