No. 137 UNION REVIVAL WILL BE HELD THIS WEEK Reverend Earnest Thacker Will Speak in Assembly Hall Each Evening at 6:30 Until Fri. Reverend Earnest Thacker will di- vide his time between Bryan and College to give a series of revival services on the Campus this week concomitant with his sermons in Bryan. His first will be given to- morrow evening at 6:30 in the As- sembly hall and will conclude at 7:30 promptly, and others will fol- low at the same hour and place each evening through Friday. The engagement of Reverend Thacker to conduct the services on the Campus was the culmination of an effort of the local pastors’ asso- ciation begun several months ago to have a series of revival sermons on the Campus during this month. Un- til a few days ago it was thought Dr. Arthur D. Moore of San An- tonio would be the speaker but later developments changed the plan. Rev- erend Thacker was invited to hold the services on his arrival in Bryan vesterday afternoon and accepted. It is hoped that he will be able to se- cure the assistance of his pianist and vocal leader, Mr. and Mrs. Roddy who will assist him in Bryan but this was not definitely determined yes- terday. Reverend Thacker’s home is in Norfolk, Virginia. He has preached in Texas and is well known for his strength of conviction. He recently ccnducted a revival and in January of this year held re- vivals in Waco and Temple. RE LIBRARIAN WILL SPEAK TO SENIOR BIBLE CLASS Thomas F. Mayo, Librarian will speak to the Senior Bible class this morning on the subject, “Psychology of Christianity.” Every senior is invited to be present at 9:30 this morning in the Y.M.C.A. parlors. Dinsmore Upton, Mus- kegon, Michigan, will speak on “The Four-Square Builder” at the regular convocation in Guion Hall this morn- ing, beginning at 10:50 o’clock. Cap- tain Upton is an experienced worker among boys and is familiar with the many problems encountered in such activity. He will speak again this afternoon at 2:00 o’clock at the Bap- tist Tabernacle in Bryan. The various Sunday School classes will observe their regular schedules this morning and the denomination groups will hold their individual ser- vices as usual tonight. Episcopal Services. The Holy Communion will be cel- ebrated at 8:30 o’clock this morning in the north parlors of the Y.M.C.A. The regular Sunday evening services will be held at 6:30 in the Y.M.C.A. parlors, Every Episcopalian is urged to be out. ZAY SMITH, group pres. Church of Christ. Bible study for members of the Church of Christ will be held this morning at 9:15 o'clock in room 103, Main Academic building. WATSON, group sec. | (Continued on Col. 1, Page 4) BE MORNING SPEAKER SCHOOL WINS MANY PLACES IN MEET Consolidated Assured of Representa- tives in Two Literary and Thirteen Athletic Events in Meet. The A. & M. Consolidated Rural school will have two representatives in the literary events and thirteen entries in the athletic events of the district Interschlolastic League meet which will be held on the Campus April 25 and 26 to select those who will go to Austin for the state meet, This was decided as a result of the county meet held at the A. & M. Con- solidated Rural school Friday under the direction of George B. Wilcox, superintendent of the school and di- rector-general of the League in this district. The two literary representatives will be Joe Hyland, senior boy de- claimer and either Jesse Sims or Viec- toria Dominic. The two girls tied for first honors in the music memory contest. They will compete against each other in the meantime to decide the winner. Those who won first honors in the track events and by such winning are entitled to represent the county in the district meet are as follows: Jim Colson, 120 yard high hurdles; Al- lan Kraft, 100 yard dash, and 50 yard dash; Grady Kincannon, 880 yard run relay and mile run; Marvin Law- less, 440 yard dash and broad jump; J. M. Williams, 220 yard dash and member of relay team; Rouble Bar- ron, relay team; Dan Hall high jump and relay team; Lamare Williams, discus throw. The A .& M. Consol- idated pupils will fill all track events with the exception of the shot put which was won by Adolph Conrad of Tabor, and tennis. On account of the unconditioned courts it was impossible to play the tennis events Friday. The meet will be held next Saturday to determine the winner. ‘ In Marvin Lawless A. & M. Con- solidated also had the high point ath- lete of the county meet. First four high individuals were A. & M. Con- solidated pupils. In the order of their standing they were Marvin Lawless, Dan Hall, Grady Kincannon and Allan Kraft, and their respective (Continued on column 2 page 3)
